Was our first time going to this place since it was previously Block 'N Blade. We took a look around and noticed an immediate bad smell! Not typical of the former meat market that had been there for years. Selection was okay, but prices were high. (Yes, I know inflation plays a big part these days, but still seemed higher). Clerk at the counter was just ok, not overly friendly and seemed impatient that we needed some time to make our selections. (Guess he's used to everyone knowing exactly what they want all the time?) I asked a very basic question about how long their brunswick stew would keep safely refrigerated... well, the guy seemed almost arrogant about it, boasted and stated, "It won't last that long. You'll eat it in one sitting, maybe two." That really didn't answer my question so I asked again and clarified that we hadn't planned on eating it right away. He then answered bluntly. (which, btw, after we did try it, all you could taste was the Overpowering vinegar! Very unappetizing, but we managed to force it down and eat it anyway as we had paid enough for it already). We made our meat selections and headed to the checkout register. Well, here's where the final disappointment came. We paid and left, but as we got in our car to leave, I decided to check our receipt. It turns out that they charge the customer TWO DIFFERENT prices!? A Cash price and a Credit card price. Well, this was completely unexpected as there were NO SIGNS that we found at all that displayed these two different prices-- either at the meat counters where only ONE price for each type of meat was shown (NO DIFFERENT, second CARD PRICE was LISTED BTW) nor at the cash register. We didn't bother to go back in to complain because we figured it would do no good anyway. But I just think it is very deceptive, misleading and not transparent to customers. If you are going to charge two different prices, that's fine, but at least be totally honest and transparent about it and display them-- just like gas stations do. That way we all know what to expect. Not everyone prefers to pay cash or even carries cash with them! Based on this experience, we will most likely Not be back. I'm not in the habit of knowingly giving business to non-transparent companies. I cannot recommend this business to others. So customers-- Be aware. I have attached the receipt and the top of the brunswick stew lid to show the advertised price on the sticker versus what we were actually charged...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWilkes took over the butcher block. Ever since Wilkes took over the products are crap. Iāve bought butter with mold. And today I go to pick out steaks for Thanksgiving. First of all , every fillet they have is wrapped in bacon. We asked them to remove the bacon because we donāt like it on our steaks. They were very rude about it. I still insisted they remove the bacon. Iām not paying extra weight for something I donāt want. I got home with my steaks And Iām going to share a picture with you of what I got from Wilks meat market. The left side is somewhat usable but extremely fatty for a filet mignon. The right side is brown and nasty. I also included their price tag so you can see what you get for your money. I miss our old butcher! Will never go here again! Not only is this place using reviews from the butchers Block that they donāt deserve . They have employees doing fake reviews. Kroger and Publix have way better selections. Save your...
Ā Ā Ā Read more2/2025 Update - We needed good steaks for a celebration and decided to give Wilkes a try. I must say the customer service was excellent. We felt appreciated. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful. Thank you Wilkes. Our steaks were delicious too. Adding a star today. I have been loyal to Wilkes for as long as I can remember. After moving near Braselton, I couldn't have been more excited when they opened up here. At first, they were friendly, and I enjoyed shopping at the new location but recently everyone that works there has a poor attitude towards customers. It has happened the last three visits. The product is always great, but it is not worth the hassle of dealing with poor quality customer service. It truly pains me to write this, but I feel the need let Wilkes know about my last three experiences. You want to chalk it up to somebody having a bad day, but three times in a row? Nope. This needs...
