I am disappointed in the "on-line" customer ordering experience - especially so for a small company that prides itself on customer service. I ordered some fly tying materials and paraphernalia (UV resin/light) on line in preparation for tying flies for a bone fishing trip planned 3 weeks later; when I received the package after a little more than one week, I learned then that several products I ordered were back ordered and would not arrive for another 2-3 weeks - obviously, not in time for me to tie flies for my trip. I would have expected that when I placed my order on line, I would have been immediately informed that the products were not available, giving me the opportunity to order an alternative brand or material from Feather Craft that was in stock, or use another supplier. At the very least, an email message within 24 hours of placing the order informing me of the back order status of my order would have been appreciated so that I could make contingency plans to obtain the materials I needed, rather than being stuck at the last minute having to purchase pre tied flies from the local...
Read moreFantastic service. I was looking for a higher-end 8 weight rod to replace my Cross Current and wanted to try the newer Loomis, Scott, Orvis and Winston models. Tim and Phil let me take my time, casting the Loomis, Scott and Winston models they had in stock. Bob even special ordered an Orvis, just for me to try. They really went out of their way to see what my needs were and examined my casting stoke to determine what might work best for me. After a couple of sessions on the lawn outside the shop, I chose the Winston. This is unbelievable service and shows the proper way to run a business. Over the years, I have purchased waders, reels, rods, boots and all sorts of other fly fishing stuff at FC. They never disappoint. If I have an issue with any of the merchandise I bought through them, they always do what they can to fix the problem. Sure, you might be able to buy equipment online elsewhere and save a few bucks, but service like this is more valuable than what you save by buying from an anonymous vendor. Read moreI placed an order for a Fishpond backpack because the Feathercaft website said it was in stock and available when other stores had it listed as backordered. I called a week later when it didn't ship and asked what the reason for the delay was. They said it was backordered and would be available in a month. After 6 weeks and my product still had not shipped I cancelled my order. In the meantime I was able to get the same Fishpond backpack through Mad River Outfitters who initially had the item listed as backordered and notified me when it was available. That is the proper way to sell online. My experience with Feathercaft has been less than pleasant. Their sales staff are snooty and unapologetic for their companies mistakes.
