Initially I was going to rate a 3 but I’m revising my rating to a 1. I’m a local employee in the area and shop here frequently on my lunches. Specifically today, Adam, one of the supervisors of the Brentwood location was overseeing the self checkout. He didn’t greet me when I walked in just stared. When I got to self check out, he stepped over from his register as if I didn’t sit everything on top of my cashwrap. I noticed he was awkwardly bending to see what I was doing (keep in mind that I’m the only customer at self checkout at the very front near his register). I can see from the corner of my eye that he’s staring so I look over and he shamefully looked away from being caught.
I walked out and forgot my bananas, came back and rung them up and there’s a white man and black woman ringing up items and he does the same thing to the woman but not the man. Immediately that confirmed the prejudice and stereotyping. I’m in my uniform name badge and all, plus the woman he did it to was just a solo wife shopping with her two young girls with nothing much in her basket.
I thought about leaving a review but decided to call the store instead to inform this misconduct of behavior towards consumers. Adam sadly is the manager on duty, treating customers like this. After he revealed that he was the one I was referring to I continued to tell him that he was wrong for his behavior.
Adam immediately cut me off to imply that he’s “apologetic about how I feel” but “he’s not stereotyping, that he’s a minority claiming Hispanic decent and has a black family” to resonate with my issue. When he’s clearly Caucasian. It’s extremely offensive to also portray a race or group of ethnic culture to dismiss accountability of said actions.
Adams actions have offended me, though I confronted that he never acknowledged the man in self check out but only myself and the woman. He proceeded to speak over me in a yelling match to prevent me from addressing the discrimination. This issue transpired in the small window of 3/4 minutes
It would be unfortunate if Adam does have a black wife and children, the way to treat people of the same descent with inequality would speak towards the true hate that’s being disguised with a marital alliance.
Ive lead in customer service and LP for 10+ years. This was a very clear matter of color versus observing body language and applying verbal customer service assistance. It’s extremely disgusting that this behavior is supported and normalized with the sprouts...
Read moreFor healthy and organic items, this is an awesome place to visit with its wide selection. This was the only shop I saw selling small amber bottles and cobalt blue bottles with droppers (for travel and home use), perfect for transferring from larger liquid containers to this 15 ml size. I enjoyed looking at the essential oil collection, certainly lavender and the others worth coming back for. There were a lot of imported items like ginseng and several names I didn't even recognize for various health needs, it looks interesting to try them out. Cleaning reagents and laundry products are friendly to people with allergies and organic, so my mom always remembers to grab one before she runs out of them or asks me to get her some. On the other side, it has a raw produce section for fruits, vegetables, groceries, milk, and frozen meat. The ground beef was priced okay. There's a unique dry food section where you can weigh what you want to buy them (nuts, spices, snacks) or buy the packed ones near the several free taste snacks on open round containers left on top of the shelves. I tried the jelly belly and the rest of the sweets. They sure are delicious! The almonds were good. Interestingly, there's also an area with snacks that are already flavored with the spice that you can weigh to buy near the free taste. The roasted chicken is also convenient and we often buy it whenever we drop by. This place has a self-checkout...
Read moreSprouts at the Streets of Brentwood is the gold standard of grocery retail, and it’s due in large part to the exceptional leadership of store manager Olivia, not to mention the amazing team of associates who work here.
Olivia has elevated this location beyond expectation—resolving longstanding issues, streamlining operations, and cultivating a team culture rooted in professionalism and kindness. The level of consistency, cleanliness, and customer care at this store is no accident—it’s the product of focused, hands-on management that clearly goes above and beyond.
It’s rare to see a manager so visible, so solution-oriented, and so effective. Olivia doesn’t just manage—she leads. And that kind of leadership deserves more than recognition. It deserves investment. I hope Sprouts’ leadership team is paying attention: Olivia should be rewarded not only with acknowledgment, but with meaningful advancement and compensation. She’s an asset to the brand and a clear example of what modern, values-driven retail leadership looks like.
If every store were run this way, grocery shopping would be a...
