Never sold anything at Platos before and trust that I will never attempt to again. I had to spend 3 hours floating around town "spending" money (thinking I was about to make money) just to keep busy instead of driving back to my home 20 mins away & then back, thinking I'd be able to sell a couple BRAND new (brand names too) items worn once, and a couple pairs of shoes 2 never worn but was told they were "too worn". The Steve Madden boots I found some online selling USED for 110 dollars! Two pair of brand new Converse I bought and never wore. Going online for around 40 USED AND WORN Mine have never been outside my apt. A brand new red fur hood trimmed winter coat I WORE ONCE, and a brand new GUESS coat that I wore a couple times last yr but now doesn't fit as well. And the rude little girl working wish I knew her name, Tells me my items are "Too Mature" and the CONVERSE Shoes were too worn out???!! If anybody is interested in my items email at "fuq yew honest reviews" at gmail all one word. They have trashy old items selling but my NEW stuff clearly doesnt happen because of age discrimination. Don't sell or shop here. UPDATE: In reply to the young mngr relying...that's funny because those Converse were at my mothers non-smoking home until 2 days ago packed in my things from a recent move, the coats probably smelled but I'm not trying to pay for dry cleaning the coats only to be paid a 1/4 of what they're worth. None of what you said l, (and clearly not a mature manager but one of the young girls working), still hasn't explained the "too mature" reasoning I was given. That sounds like discrimination against my style for my age? And Surely I am NOT the only one leaving one star so check yourselves. The Steve Madden boots were in the same box as the Converse packed away at my non-smoking mothers home, The red coat is actually "too young" for me with the ruffle waist and fur, the brand new GUESS coat was purchased last winter from Macys and I suppose what you're saying is that if you're 35 and older, you can't sell or buy from Platos? Because according to the rude young employees, my items are "too old" style and nothing to do...
Read moreI came in with a basketful of very like new clothing, all nice brands. I noticed several older women in store shopping, not just teens or twenty somethingâs. All items were bought and in style, the girl looked at me with disdain when I picked up my basket. Kept rolling her eyes at me and looking at me like I had no sense of fashion, or a clue. She was young, and said âwe do not accept bold patterns, and âonly teens and twenty somethingâs do we really cater toâ. I felt discriminated against and embarrassedâ. It was horrible because I had a new friend accompany me there who was in her late 60âs and said she had shopped there. The girl went on to say âwe also do not accept business clothesâ. The way she kept rolling herceyes at me felt awful. I have been to stores, I had my own businessâs; and that is NOT how you do business. Will not ever go there, and I wish the owner was there. I would fire an employee who acted like that. It claims to be a vintage clothing store; & it isnât. Just snobby workers with a horrible attitude. Both girls there had ZERO sense of style. Neither one even washed or combed their hair. They looked dumpy. Not because I judge folks like that; but purely because of how they treat people. Platoâs Closet must have changed. I know they are franchised but for any clothing store to say âwe only cater to younger womenâ is not just discriminatory but flat out rude. I even put in a gorgeous Grey coat, on trend, never worn, and bought before Christmas this year and did not wear it. I will find the owner. I will report this. And write an article for the newspaper. Perhaps they might like a visit from Chanel 7...
Read moreI don't understand all the hate. I buy and shop here pretty regularly for years throughout my teenage years up until my young adult years now! Who doesn't love a good bargain? Especially in today's economy. The girls are usually very sweet. And have been nothing but kind with comments like "oh you have the best stuff! We love when you come in!!". I'll admit I love shopping a lil too much. But secondhand is my way 2 go without completely breaking my bank.
It costs nothing not be a jerk to people. These are literally JUST teenagers and college KIDS. Would you be happy if someone shoved clothes they've had since 2016 in a garbage bag that has been sitting in their car or garage for weeks and made you go through them while being stared at like a hawk and yelled at Because you didn't want anything? Because that's how alof of these reviews are acting. You never know what someone else is going through, so don't be a d-bag.
People clearly don't know how to read their selling process. Cleanliness and kindness go a long way. If you want to make cash don't be a pain in the a**. This store targets current trends for young adults a teens. They obviously don't want things that doesn't sell to their demographic. They do their best to cater to all styles and trends and are friendly to everyone.
A marshalls bag costs 99 cents across the street use that instead. It's probably cheaper than all the garbage bags you rip and waste basically throwing at these girls.
So thank you to ladies at the Brighton Plato's for keeping a clean, stocked and fun storeâ¤ď¸đ your kind smiles and good music...
