United States Postal Service — Local services in Brighton

I get so much misdirected mail at home AND for my PO Box. I get mail in my P.O. Box for a box number nowhere near mine. Last week I went to pick up my mail after returning from traveling for a week and I was told next time I may not have a choice and I would be required to pay more and change my address to a bigger PO Box because they can’t just let me fill up their post office with my mail. Excuuuse me? Isn’t that what a mail hold is all about? Having them hold my mail while I’m out of town? That is part of the services that the post offices usually offer.

I signed up for informed delivery, and a quarter of the items that I received email showing photos of are never delivered to me at all. I keep going in and telling the Brighton post office time after time that this is happening and they told me that the pictures are not reliable. I told them that it clearly shows the mail addressed to me and therefore it must be real mail and what is happening to it.

I received a package while away And in a matter of four days, they had given me a first notice, a second notice, and a final notice. I asked a nice man who retrieved the package for me how that worked and he said I shouldn’t have received all three notices within days of each other like they did. Ok, but I did!

Last week I went into the Brighton post office and one of the ladies who work there threw the door open that leads to the lobby and knocked me down with the door. She did not even apologize, she just said ”Ohhh...”

Another time, i received notification in my PO Box that They had a package for me. Nobody could find it anywhere. They said they’d have the supervisor look for it. It never...

The employee that helped me today… you can totally tell is burnt out. I get being overworked, underpaid, and all that in-between. This guys customer service was not good at all.

First off… it was my first time shipping a package USPS. I don’t know if they package it for you or not. I’ve only done UPS (but they charge an arm and a leg). He tried to convince me I could ship a couple of my packages as is, but I stated I’d like to box them. He kinda looked at me like I was crazy for wanting to ship to more than 2 places, and commented it’s more. Which is fine, I’m more concerned about protecting the packages. So I packed them. Came back in line. He kept making comments how big the boxes were for the packages, and “that’s big”, in a very quiet but condescending way. Managed to drop a box on the floor. Not saying sorry or asking if anything was fragile. Luckily there wasn’t anything fragile in the one he dropped. He was rough when handling the boxes, and was not very customer service friendly.

Again, I get burn out and stuff, but please don’t make me feel dumber than I am, all because I’m trying to ship some packages. And please don’t break my stuff because you are having a rough day.

I’m giving this a 2/5, and not a 1/5, because Customer Service sucks. I really hope this guy finds a way to enjoy his job or...

3/28/2017 Update - This post office has lost ANOTHER package. I've never had this many issues with a post office in my life.

I moved to a neighborhood that this post office covers earlier this year. Ever since then we've had lots of issues with our mail. Any time we get letters that have any kind of thickness they come with holes in the side or they've been opened all the way (and put into a plastic bag). They've failed to deliver several packages while claiming the packages were delivered, they claim that my mail receptacle is blocked when it clearly was not, they've claimed that they've come by my door and I wasn't home when I waited all day for them to ring my doorbell, and they won't pick up my phone calls. This place is horrible and needs to be shut down and replaced.

To add to this I've received my neighbors mail, including packages, multiple times. I even get mail for people that live in other neighborhoods. These people can't read numbers or words, it's absurd.

Edit: I finally got a hold of someone at this post office. I told them I need to look up a package and the guy said "Holdon, let me switch computers so I can look up your tracking number." He put me on hold for TEN MINUTES before I finally hung up. This place...
