My one star review didn’t get posted. She actually deserves ZER0, not 4.
I hired Roxanne to help me design a large home I was having built. She was very knowledgable of interior design and had some great ideas for the house. I was very pleased with her work and the process. She was very easy to meet with and easy to work with. The two things I will say that didn’t work out very well with her were two other individuals with whom she had worked. One built kitchen and bathroom cabinets and the other one has done landscaping for her. The cabinet person did an absolutely awful job on the cabinets I had him build. I am having them all ripped out and done again by a professional company which is costing me a lot of money. Roxanne had originally suggested a professional company but eventually sold me on a cabinet builder she knew because she said his work was just as good as a professional company and would be somewhat cheaper. I asked both her and the cabinet maker about his work and what it would look like and how well made his cabinets were and I was promised they would look amazing and be very upscale. I got the impression he was a master carpenter who could build anything. I finally decided to use him and it turned out to a be a major mistake. I regret ever letting him do any work for me. I still can’t believe she recommended him to do my kitchen considering how upscale my house was going to be. HIs work was like a DIY type job. It is embarrassing for me to have friends see the cabinets he built.
The landscape person she recommended never did any work for me.I met with him to discuss the landscape project. He had some great ideas and I was impressed with his work. I was eager to use him for my project. Roxanne told me his work was amazing too. The problem with him is that it took FIVE months to get only a partial estimate out of him for the work to be done. He kept putting me off and telling me he was busy. I told Roxanne about how he was putting me off and she even called him to tell him he needed to step up his game and get me some information. After five months I finally fired him. I realize Roxanne had no control over his work but the fact that she recommended him and he wasted five months of my time makes her look bad. I finally had to hire another landscape company and the work was completed about year after he originally said he would complete the work. It was very frustrating to go through that.
It has been over six months since I complained to Roxanne about how bad my cabinets are. I told her the only resolution would be to get my money back from Brian.I would never let him try to fix the issue. The entire kitchen is the issue and he clearly can’t build cabinets for an upscale home.Regretfully, I had him build my kitchen cabinets and also cabinets for two of my bathrooms. Nine professional kitchen and bath remodeler companies agreed my cabinets are garbage.
I am posting this review of him here because there is no way to leave a review on google for him. The only reason I hired him was because Roxanne promised me he would build my cabinets just like a professional cabinet making company would. He clearly didn’t.
I am including some pictures of the quality of cabinets he built for me The paint job is the worst aspect of the cabinets. He roll painted them on site: he did not spray paint them. He didn’t put multiple coats of paint on them. He didn’t bake them. He did nothing that a professional cabinet company would’ve done. When I asked him before we ever started if he would do stuff like that, he said he did and Roxanne heard him say that. During the project, when I found out that he was going to roll paint them I couldn’t believe it. Roxanne apparently knew that he would, and told me that there would be no brush marks and they will look amazing. They do not look amazing and again I have nine companies to verify that.
My display cabinet has different sized windows for some reason. My nice "upscale" lazy susan is something from WalMart.
Biggest mistake of my life. ...
Read moreAfter living in our house for over 18 years our house was in need of a make over… My husband and I had been planning on remodeling our downstairs (Kitchen, living room, family room, powered room…) for the last few years. Unfortunately with our crazy work schedules and the amount of decisions needed to be made, the process became overwhelming, we simply were not making any progress. Once we hired Roxanne things started to move, she helped us sift through and decide on the major pieces. Kitchen cabinet color, style, layout, Countertop, backsplash, lighting, flooring, paint color, furniture style colors, fabric type, etc! Our home is not quite done yet, but the major pieces that were holding us back are done and so far we are very happy with the outcome! If you have an idea of what you want but simply are having a hard time pulling it together or can’t agree with your significant other on the direction of your project, I would definitely hire Roxanne to help...
Read moreMy husband and I just wrapped up a major home remodel project and since neither of us have an artistic bone in our bodies, we made the decision to engage Roxanne Essex, Essex House Interiors. We did not once regret that decision. We told her the general look we wanted, and we really appreciated that she took that input and never tried to steer us in a different direction. Roxanne helped us with paint color selection, furniture ideas, room layouts, hanging artwork, and more. She made numerous visits to our home as the project progressed and was so accommodating to phone calls/texts with questions. She also accompanied us to pick out light fixtures and other pieces. To say that we got great customer service from Roxanne would be an understatement. And our home looks fantastic – in large part due to her expert guidance. ...
