The service was friendly right off the bat. We were greeted immediately, and orders were taken promptly. She was kind and friendly. We ordered several kabob plates of different variations(chicken, beef, shrimp), as well as a burger, fries, and a jumbo shrimp basket. The food smelled amazing. But the taste was very lack luster. One of our plates has so much grease throughout that it actually made my son sick. The rice reminded me of Uncle Ben's parboiled rice, not easily digestible and odd texture. The chicken kabobs were just chicken cubes heavily marinated in turmeric and spice, and they were dry. The beef kabob was slightly better in texture but lacked flavor. We expected there to be some vegetables on the kabob, maybe onion, pepper, or even mushroom, but they were literally just cubed meat on a stick. Our shrimp skewer was wrapped, and when we opened it so much oil and reddish grease poured out, we had to use a paper towel to pat it down. The salad had so much dry spice, coating it with 1 tiny cube of feta, and the dressing for the salad was more dry spice soaking in oil with a tiny splash of white vinegar The shrimp were far from jumbo-unlike the jumbo shrimp the previous owners sold- and had the weirdest taste of being frozen and burnt at the same time. Up until yesterday, I didn't think this could be possible, but it was because they were over cooked causeing the breading to burn instead of being a nice golden coating. This just left a bad after taste, and after trying to eat 2, we had to stop. The only things that were edible were the fries and burgers. I really wanted to like this place because I was a frequent customer of the place when it was Sammy's. We might try other things on the menu but plan on steering clear from what we have tried so far. I do want to see them succeed because they seem like they can excel and succeed with just a few tweaks. Plus, they are so kind, but also, our food choices here in Yorkville are so limited with the same old...
Read moreI really really loved this place. Food is delicious, even though the Greek potatoes tend to be dry, the gyros and kabobs are amazing, some of the best. I ordered off of uber eats like I always do with this place. Well they made a mistake and gave my food away to doordash. No big deal, stuff happens, it took uber eats like almost 2 hours to find a driver for my order, i had the app open eagerly watching for a driver to accept my order, I ordering lunch for my baby and I. Finally i get a driver i watch him drive there, i get a call from the driver that supposedly my order had been picked up, now if an uber driver went to pick up my order already IT WOULDNT BE AVAILABLE FOR ANOTHER DRIVER TO COME AND GET IT. Regardless, I wasn't upset at all until I hear the owner who had made the mistake refusing to make what I ordered and give to the correct driver who was there for my food, bc he gave it to someone else. I had a kids kabob with rice and a gyro. I spent over $30 on that. Even after explaining to him, he gave it away to the wrong person and that this driver was the first to accept my order THATS WHY IT WAS EVEN AVAILABLE, he basically hung up on me passing the phone to the driver like im not giving her anything... While knowing it was food I had paid for, it was for my baby and I, and had been waiting for almost 2 hours for it, and hadnt recieved it and wasnt going to get it.... crazy. I work in the industry and i would NEVER let anyone no matter whos mistake leave with not only a bad taste in their mouth about the over all establishment but also without food 🤯🤯🤯 especiallythat they waited on and paid for. It doesnt put anyone out fixing a mistake. What a shame. ....
Read moreI came here driving back from an art competition with my friend when she suggested Flame Kabob Grill. The lady at the front was absolutely amazing! She’s very nice, efficient and gave me another garlic sauce. When I tell you the SECOND I took a bite of that soft moist naan bread that I drenched in the garlic sauce- I teared up. The garlic sauce was the shampoo to my conditioner. Ketchup to my mustard. It was like cool air conditioning on a hot summer day. I loved it so much I got a container of it when I left. The meat was so delectably tender that I probably didn’t have to chew. And the rice- oh my god. Medium grain steamed to perfection. Soft, creamy, smooth. The sensation of chewing was good enough for me, but my god it tasted so good too. I couldn’t stop eating when I was full (which was after I ate the meat). I didn’t even mind if I threw up walking to my car if it means that I got to taste the sweet nutrients of the gods one more time. As I write this my eyes grow weary, my stomach is full and i still have leftovers. I cannot recommend this place enough. I will be bringing my family and inviting my friends. I think my stomach just had a spiritual awakening. I’m going to go to sleep now, and if I don’t wake again I’d be satisfied if this was...
