An Elegant Affair Bridal — Local services in Bristol

Called in mid-to-late January and was told they do not offer bridal appointments any day except Saturdays, so I booked an appointment for their next available date (about 3-4 weeks later). Tried to schedule it for 10am when they opened, but was told that they open at 10 but don't take appointments until 10:30, so I booked for then.

Fast forward to the appointment, I arrived 15 minutes early to check in and look around, but was told that they had no appointments scheduled until 11am for someone else, and that the bridal employee wasn't even in until 11am. They called her to come in early but she still didn't arrive until 11am, at which point there were THREE appointments, all scheduled for the same time, for the one person to cover. It turns out that they were still using their 2017 planner to schedule appointments, even in late January for appointments in February, and forgot to move them into the new 2018 planner, so they had multiple overlaps. This explains how they forgot about my 10:30 appt, but does not explain how they had TWO appointments for 11am (when I got there and they realized the mistake they called the 11am to move her back to noon, but didn't even know there was a second 11am until they all arrived).

I understand that things happen, but I ended up having to wait 45 minutes before this lady arrived. I could have dealt with that, and ended up browsing through their 20 dresses multiple times while waiting and finding some dresses to try on, but the absolutely inexcusable part is that when she finally got there, she acted like I was some walk-in that refused to make an appointment or something. She was very rude and completely ignored me, instead helping the other 11am appointment instead. After another 15 minutes (an a full hour of my time), I finally got her attention and got her to help me find bridal gowns. My request was "a romantic, lightweight, and flowy A-line dress in ivory; color underneath was fine but definitely ivory overall". She went in the back to look and came back with only one option: a violently hot pink dress with zero ivory that looked more like a prom dress than a wedding gown, and then said that they had nothing for me. I tried on the three dresses that I found from their front racks (which was apparently only about 10% of their stock), and then left because she wouldn't look in the back again. Tony (the owner there) was very pleasant. He’s a nice guy who likes to chat about you and your day. Not many people these days can actually hold a conversation anymore. This was enlightening. His workers were ok but seemed as if they needed his help more than usual. May he was training them. Anyway the time he took help me was about 50 min and he was completely intelligent and kind. His knowledge about the industry was impressive. Very nice experience. I’d recommend making an appointment first for the bridal sections as it’s being updated and Inventory was brought in. I made an appointment and came last Saturday to try on dresses with my bridesmaids and mother. I was impressed with the selection of gowns! They had many to show and the women were all so very kind.
