Update: After reaching out about my concerns, I was invited back for a complimentary fix. The staff was professional and welcoming during my second visit, and they took the time to reshape and refine the Gel-X extensions (blue set). Now my nails look much more natural and clean, which is exactly what I was hoping for in the first place. I had a Gel-X extension appointment in Brookline a few days ago and, unfortunately, am quite disappointed with how my nails turned out. The process included applying the extensions, builder gel (didn’t understand this part), and then the gel color coats — but there was minimal filing or shaping in between. The final result looks bulky and unnatural. I did express concern during the appointment about the thickness and asked if more shaping would be done, but was reassured that they would look very natural in the end. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. My nails feel overly thick, uneven, and not at all what I expected from a $100 manicure. There is also gel/glue that was over-applied underneath the nails, which is now catching lint and feels uncomfortable. I haven’t had my nails done in a while and wasn’t sure how to bring this up at the time, but after some reflection, I reached out via voicemail and through the website to ask if I could come back in for more shaping or a fix. I haven’t heard back yet, but I’d really appreciate the chance to speak with someone and hopefully find a solution.

had a really disappointing experience getting a gel manicure and pedicure here. It’s only been 9 days and you can already see the growth, which suggests my cuticles weren’t properly pushed back during the manicure. I also ended up with a terrible (ordinary looking) nail shape that looks unflattering and it’s uneven when you compare it to the rest of the nails—and for $90, that’s just unreasonable. Another issue was the atmosphere—while I respect that staff may speak different languages, I found it unsettling that they were conversing in their native language while glancing at me. It made me feel uncomfortable and self-conscious. I wouldn’t recommend this salon based on my experience. But if you do go, maybe consider using a translator app if you feel unsure about what’s being said around you.

I was able to book service just a day in advance which was very convenient for me since I'm going to a wedding. The location is pretty new and everything is very bright and clean inside. The nail technicians are all very friendly and easy to talk to and it seems like the franchise owner maintains a good working atmosphere for them. I got the ultimate manicure with their organic vegan performance polish in a light pink #3 and the technician was very gentle with dealing with my unkept cuticles and communicating her procedure to someone who is new to getting nails done like I am. I would definitely trust her to do my nails again and her services helped me feel confident and well-groomed.

I’ve been going to this location since they first opened. The staff is always very friendly and makes the experience so enjoyable each time I go. I loved having the ML membership when that was first offered - unlimited manicures with such great people (Simone, Nancy, Amy, Naomi) in a beautiful salon was something I looked forward to each week! I appreciate all that the staff has taught me about nail health and proper care. Over the years, I’ve brought my out-of-town family and friends with me, who now request we go to ML Coolidge Corner each time they visit.

Since moving out of this area 4 years ago, I’ve returned frequently, and will be going more often now that this location has transitioned to the academy, lead by the wonderful Kareena! Marissa and Mary are so talented, I was pleasantly surprised at how great these “students” were. Kareena is lovely, a well-rounded leader at this salon, and even while we’re chatting, she always has a pulse on what’s going on around her. She’s consistently offering tips, constructive criticism, and positive feedback to the techs in training to ensure they’re improving each time they’re with a client. I hope clients who go here understand that this is a learning environment, and appreciate what they are offering for such a great price.

I have been to ML salons all over Boston/Greater Boston (almost all of them at this point), as well as RI and CA, and although all are beautiful and most do a great job, Coolidge Corner has been the most consistent with a 10/10 experience each time and feels like “home” when I visit....

I was gifted a certificate that said it was good for two mani-pedis so I was pretty excited to go and relax with my cousin. The woman who was doing my nails was very talkative and friendly. The woman working on my cousin, however, was very much the opposite. She had a bad attitude and was kind of aggressive towards my cousin. I think the overall experience was really unpleasant for her. They switched out the woman doing her nails with another staff member, but she also wasn't the least bit friendly. When I went to pay, I was horrified when I was told that my certificate would only cover a portion of the mani-pedis, something I should have been told at the onset when I showed it to them upon entering. They asked for an addition $120! They also did not give me the option to tip individually, so I ended up having to tip all three nail technicians the same amount. I left the salon feeling very upset. On top of that, my nails started chipping within two days of the appointment. It's a lot of money for something that doesn't last. I definitely will not be returning and I'd advise others not...
