Prices are definitely on the lower end, but not the lowest. Some items at Trader Joe's are cheaper, for example, peanut butter pretzels at ALDI are 24oz@3.99, whereas at TJ it's 16oz@1.99. Also, Almonds at TJ are 16oz @ 4.99, here it ended up being 14oz @ 4.89 for flavoured almonds (they don't have any raw non-roasted/unsalted almonds here, BTW), and the price tags are all over the place, so, I thought I was getting the same price as TJ, as some tag next to most almonds said 4.49, but that must have been for a nearby item. I noticed this to be pretty common occurrence with multiple items, since they don't really have proper shelves here.
The quality is also questionable. The pouch tuna, at 85¢, is certainly nicely priced, but it was the most rubbery pouch tuna I've ever had; and, in fact, wasn't even the cheapest — there were promotions at Fry's Food where you could actually get Starkist for less during certain weeks, and the normal price is often just 99¢ for a much better product (either Starkist or Kroger home brand).
For road trips, they do have bathrooms, but it's a very sad one, with no paper towels. Basically, if you're going between big metros with TJ in them, this isn't necessary worth a stop; although it's certainly a worthy contender if you don't have access to other options. That said, it's right on the best route between Denver/Amarillo/Lubbock and Austin, directly on the highway, so, it might be worth a quick stop to see if they have any...
Read moreClean and compact store; interesting and constantly changing selection of useful items. Today I went into buy a package of bacon and came out with a mini sewing machine for $15. Lol! This could be a problem if you are an impulse buyer =D Really though, ALDI's a good place to buy your food, both basic and specialty, if you actually want see the money you save. It's very obviously cheaper without a loss in quality. Perfect example: The popular Beyond Meat plant based burger patties. I shop around and I do actually buy these about once a week. I haven't found them for under $6.00 for a package of two. ALDI'S has that same pack for around $4.00. Sure, it's only $2.00 saved, but over the course of a year I will potentially save $104.00 on just this alone. For me, that's a compelling reason to check ALDI's first, before buying my...
Read moreCute little grocery store. You have to rent your shopping basket and bring your own bags to carry your stuff home. Selection is very very limited. This is by no means a fancy store. Just the bare essentials ie; food on shelves, no signage, few selections of each type food. You get it. It's a small store. This is where you go for lite stuff. If you actually need groceries ,you are still going to have to go to another bigger store. On the plus side,it's never crowded. Handicapped parking spaces up front so you won't have to cross the parking lot. You can travel up and down the sidewalk to other stores in the strip mall. This store sells a few other things other than food . I have seen small barbeque grills there in the summer as well as paper plates etc. Most of their stuff is...
