I had fun going with friends but it was honestly not scary at all. I had been dreaming of coming here for years and it was my first year and I was super excited based on all the hype however I was sorely disappointed. I understand that the move to Buena Park took time and a lot of effort but the craziest rooms I had heard of online were gone and the entire experience was just pretty uneventful. Donât get me wrong the staff was absolutely wonderful and the scare actors were fun but it certainly wasnât as scary as what was advertised. I think the whole mercy pendant thing is first of all useless if you buy one haha and it definitely made the experience worse (but super smart from a business standpoint) and it was ironic because there was literally one cockroach in the entire experience and minimal shocking. The one time we got shocked the hardest even the people with the pendants got hit lol.
Anyway if anyone from 17th door is reading this I implore you to seriously ramp up the fear factor and be creative next year. I want the experience to live up to the hype you built. People should leave soaking wet and completely shocked not let down. Iâm from Denver and have to been to other attractions such as 13th floor and that was certainly more scary and thereâs zero waiver required. I understand by making it tame the attraction becomes much more accessible to those who wouldnât come prior which obviously means more money but now is the time to ask yourself whatâs more important as a company: do you want to have the most intense haunt in the entire United States? Or do you want to make a lot of money? I understand if you choose the latter half but word will certainly spread that the attraction is not what it used to be. I hope you guys can find in an in between where maybe the pendants opt participants out of the most intense rooms so you can bring back the actual breathlessness and water rooms. I hope this year was just an off year and next year you guys will be back in your full glory! Again, nothing wrong with the people here. Only good experiences with the staff and actors but the scare factor wasnât up to par. We will be back next year,...
Read moreI came for the 2nd night of the 2023 season. We had the field trip add on which was fantastic. You go inside to fill out waivers and huge signs that say if you have a mercy pendant or field trip to go to the front desk. So we had no issues attending the field trip experience as everything was clearly displayed and explained upon arrival. I will say I think the old characters of the field trip were much better than the new ones (no spoilers) I did enjoy the other elements. Afterwards we were directed to the front of the haunt line where we were up next. The next 17 rooms that followed were amazing production wise however, I just wasnât scared. I personally think last year was way more terrifying with the drop out the back into the ball pit, the truck coming at you full speed and circle shocks as well as the final room flood tunnels. I was expecting since flood tunnels was removed that it would be something just as intense if not more but unfortunately it was the worst room of them all. Not scary and not anywhere close to competing with flood tunnels. Overall it was a fun experience to have with friends but keep in mind unless you have severe fears that you canât handle you will not get scared expect of being tased that was the only part that truly scared me besides the furnace room. I hope next year they will change the story completely and introduce the elements ramped up. Breathless is advertised by being completely suffocated under latex and now all we get is some lame ropes that go across our body and a suction mask that last 2 seconds. The advertisements for some of the rooms have been misleading unless they were straight up not fully working. The water tank that spins with lasers was not pouring water out like shown in the video and the ball room was definitely not filled higher than your knees. Just those elements alone would of improved the experience. Ramp up the scares and definitely get a better 17th room going forward. Iâm interested to see what others will think as the season goes on. Hopefully Iâll be back for next year im excited to see how you guys...
Read more$800 experience was a complete waste of money at this new location in Buena Park. Eight of us purchased VIP Haunt Entry with the Field Trip Experience. We arrived at our time and went down to the maze, for just 40 minutes later as we were next for the maze, they tell us we had to do field trip first before the maze. After going back outside to do so, fieldtrip instructor âJorgeâ very rudely told us that âfieldtripâ was closed for the rest of the night because we were too late. No where does it state that we were suppose to do fieldtrip first so they expect everyone to know that. Even after explaining the situation to Jorge outside, as sarcastic and as rude as you can think of, saying âlook at the fine print of your ticket then you wouldnât be lateâ Where I then showed him it states nothing about doing that experience first. Also, other remarks like âlook what time it isâ as if we didnât stand in the maze like for 40 mins. Keep in mind, Jorge is not an actor either so there is no reasoning for him being rude. So now we have to experience just the fieldtrip a whole separate day because of the miscommunication of the staff.
For the actual maze, I can confidentially say it is far from scary. More say, a waste of time and money if youâre looking to be actually frightened. Every room rushed, no actors really scaring you, barely even yelling like how you see in videos, etc. you would have a far better time at Scare Fest or HHN if youâre looking to be more scared than here. Literally out of 17 rooms, NONE of them were close to scary like how advertised. My 5 yr old brother wouldnât even be scared of this. The only scary part about these âmazesâ is the anticipation of going. The moment youâre in, nerves go away and you realize the hype is not there at all.
Any videos you see on it are complete opposite. Even rooms that are promoted donât function or do the same things that are on video even at this new location. We understand some rooms were taken out and some were added in, but this was one of the worst Halloween experiences Iâve ever had. Do as you will...
