Unparalleled selection of Nuts and Bolts & Misc Hardware. After talking to one of the store employees to try and help me locate 4 extremely specific hardware pieces he mentioned that their store was ranked 1st amongst all of Washington for their Selection of Nuts and Bolts & the Nearby Normandy Park ranked 2nd or 3rd.
Not sure whether they were referencing just ACE Stores or hardware stores in general but I can say in terms of individual selection(i.e. different pieces), the shear number of unique sizes/dimensions & variations they stock easily blows Lowe’s & Home Depot out of the water (again not in volume).
They might even beat Hardware Sales of Bellingham, WA. I consider Hardware Sales of Bellingham to be the KING in terms of offered variety and vast range of different types and categories of hardware store products, they are practically unrivaled in that area, however in terms of variety of Nuts & Bolts I believe Burien ACE still takes the win.
I had a project I was undertaking where the pieces inside had rusted and become worn so as to become junk. I could find grade 8 bolts online but these were long and only partially threaded at the tip which was going to be kinda annoying to sort through the online options but the other pieces (an extremely odd sized nylon bushing along with a dual compression spring) I had resigned myself to an impossibly time consuming online search but figured I would go and check while checking for grade 8 bolts. When I discovered they had nearly identical Large Flanged Grade 8 Bolts & the matching hardened flat and split washers + available alternatives to the bushing & dual compression spring requiring very little modification to work, my right hand ended up involuntarily doing a couple fist pumps in silent relief that I would get done...
Read moreVery bad experience today, I spoke with the manager Shannon. He made it worse. I definitely will not go there again. Here is what happened. I bought EGO weed whacker a few weeks back, great tool. I came back to purchase 24 inch EGO hedge trimmer I saw there. They were out of stock, I brought the bar code up front to see about the 24 inch tool for $219. They will order and call me, they never called. No big deal.I called them after a week to see if it there, Alright it’s there. 26 inch at $269. That’s not what I ordered. It’s the wrong item. They are sorry , wasted my time. Some stores fix things by adjusting price or using a coupon to smooth things out. I could go to west Seattle or Lowe’s. I wanted to keep it local. The managers beside manner leaves a lot to be desired. Basically listen to my problems with the wrong item at higher price , nothing he was able to do.After five second's he turned back and walked away.. I was dumbfounded . Wow! That’s the Burien Ace Hardware. All the employees were great, my experience with Shannon the manager was out of the books as the worst example of. customer service. Turn back and walk away , I knew the conversation was over when he was twenty feet down the aisle. I was looking at the back of his head. I guess we are done I said to myself. I was , nice , sane rational. It’s not the end of the world. I’ll purchase it at west Seattle Ace hardware or Lowe’s. Maybe some good will come from this. Sincerely Marty Hope this...
Read moreI was on board with all the 5 star reviews for Burien Ace. But yesterday, I decided to return an electric blower that I purchased from them. I had it packed back up perfectly in it's box, but when the store manager opened it, she replied, "this is not a rental store." I explained that I was returning it because it was not powerful enough for what I wanted. How was I to know unless I tried it? It was their employee who recommended this blower to me also. But they refused to take it back saying that they could not re-sell this even though I packed it back up exactly as I had opened it. I packed it back up so well that they had to ask if I had opened it, where I honestly told them yes, I had to try it out.
This is the first time in years, that I have experienced a reputable store refusing to take a return. I understand that a return policy should not be abused and would not do so, but I was never been told that you can't return a tool if you opened it, or used it for that matter. Home Depot or McLendon's would never do this. Very disappointed and now stuck with a $80 blower that doesn't do what I need it to for. I'll still buy hardware and small things from them, but I won't buy any tools or equipment there. You're missing out on the larger sales with...
