I have been shopping at many of the Market Baskets for 20 years while I was on the road as an Insurance Professional. With the exception for the newer multi-sized store in Everett, most of the other stores had the problems that were listed by ??? Now that I am retired, I shop mostly at the store in Burlington/Lexington on the Middlesex Turnpike. Ever since they moved into their larger location within the same Mall, things have gotten much better: better service (under supervision of various mangers, especially Peter Morris & Cashier Suprvsors, Theresa & Jude; the isles R much wider; and stock is better organized. It is true that some of the personnel barely speak any English & don't understand it, but if U get in touch w/one of the managers (I know it is time-consuming), they will make sure U get what U need or find out which isle it is located. Overall, the shopping experience is much better than it used 2 B; however, it is still not perfect. If U bring UR issues 2 the attention of any of the front-of-store managers, U will get both proper response as well as efforts will B made 2 correct an on-going persistent problem. All I can say is that my shopping experiences at Market Basket R considerably better than my experiences at Stop & Shop or Star Market. I don't live close enough 2 Whole Foods; but I am going 2 check out Trader Joe's soon. I have been told that the customer service staff is much better than any other...
ย ย ย Read moreMy latest gripe with this store is that they are slowly phasing out its offerings of Single Serve items. Itโs impossible to shop for a single individual. Why is everything in bulk? This isnโt a Costco and not everyone is a family of five. Iโve noticed the items that used to be available are dwindling and some are not even available at all anymore. (Single serve milk)
Unsure how I feel about this location. Beware of slimy pre-packaged (most likely unwashed) salads, mislabeled and under-heated prepared foods, (their breakfast sandwiches labeled as โFrench toastโ are actually between 2 cold untoasted slices of cinnamon raisin bread (umm excuse me?!??)). They are unprepared for service when they open at 7am. No breakfast items are ready and the cafe is not operational until who knows when (not me, since I have to be at work at 7:30am. I tried getting my coffee from the cafe ONE TIME and it was such a disaster that I will never bother trying again. And before you suggest that I stock up on groceries the day before, try doing that when you have no access to a refrigerator.
Update: 7/17 -Massive fly trapped inside the pastry case this morning, landing on all the donuts. I let it out but if you ate donuts from here today, that fly was...
ย ย ย Read moreThe most miserable, unfriendly employees every.single.time. This is a very busy location and no ever has any kind of pep in their step, you are on their time and they donโt give a damn how slow they move. Youโre always in line for at LEAST 10 minutes even in the express checkout. No Hi, no thank you, no have a good day, they just give you the death stare as if you are inconveniencing them by shopping there. I say thank you and never once have gotten a response out of these people. Rude as hell. Please stop allowing random checkouts through the cafe line. I was just trying to get something from there AFTER making my purchase at the regular checkout and an employee was trying to purchase medicine and her EBT declined so then sheโs on the phone having conversations and trying to run the card again and not giving a damn about the line of 4 people deep behind her. Tried again, denied again. Still sat on the phone rather than moving aside, no one asked her to step aside to help the customers either. Everyone eventually turning and looking at each other like โwhat the heckโ I hate this location so much and itโs always something when I stop in on my way home from work, this was the last...
