This place has been around forever. I used to visit a lot in the 90's and 2000's when I lived in VT. That said, it's still a little old-school "dungeon" style shop. Kinda tight quarters, but a fairly large inventory of both CD's and LP's. Basically the store is split with one side of the cashwrap featuring predominantly new/used CD's, and the other side mostly new vinyl. Sadly, their vintage/used vinyl selection is very sparse. There's only 1 bin of pre-owned vinyl and it's usually quite picked over and sad looking whenever I'm there. The vinyl selection is almost entirely modern reissues and newer releases, so if that is what you are looking for than this is the place to go because they will likely have what you are seeking. There are thousands of new LP's to choose from in a wide variety of genres. They have hundreds of CD's and some cassettes as well, in fact I would say they have the largest selection of CD's in all of Burlington. So again, if CD is your preferred physical medium, then Purepop is your place. They often have "bargain" CD's available too, which is actually my favorite section of the store (3 CD's for $5!). Prices overall seem consistent with the current market, tho I imagine you could find many of these new titles online for less. But the important thing is to support local/small businesses...

The people working were so unbelievably rude. When we walked in, they weren't even gonna bother greeting us, as they were on speaker phone with someone clearly not important to business. They played the music so loud I had to yell for my friend to understand me from two feet away. They were eating breakfast as they were doing the transaction, and did not give me my full change. And they had the audacity to mutter under their breath about me and my friend as we were walking away from the transaction, due to an error they made. Whoever is running this business has to have their employees get their shit together, because I've had better service from literal teenagers at a Toys R Us. There are many other record shops in Burlington who value your time and money far more. And all for similar prices. DONT BOTHER shopping here if all you're gonna get is...
Read morePure Pop Records is a small independent record store at the intersection of College Street and South Winooski Avenue since 1981. They still carry cassette tapes, compact discs and vinyl records from almost every musical genres you can think of. If you don't see what you're looking for, don't go to online retailers yet. Just call or visit the store and they usually can special order it for you and you can pick it up in store in a few days as long as the item is still in print. They now offer online pre-orders on select new releases and you can pick up in store. They do participate in Record Store Day when exclusive limited edition releases hit...
