To more or less mimic what everyone else here is saying, Kennon is an absolute GEM of a human. I had a vision for a ring but no idea how to articulate it and he was able to create a pretty great render of it very quickly and spent significant time with me getting it just right. By the time we were ready for casting the ring, I was so confident that it would be what I was looking for that I had no stress/anxiety at all because he made sure every detail was discussed and presented in a way that was easily processable. He's clearly an Expert (with a capital E) at what he does, and I feel lucky to have found him and made the choice to wander into his shop. His pricing is fair and reasonable, something you don't typically find down on Church St.
More importantly than my own thoughts on the ring, my fiance is elated and keeps saying how "perfect" it is and that it's the most beautiful ring she's ever seen. She is super honest and has no problem letting me know when a piece of jewelry isn't to her taste and she has been gushing about it, showing it off to everyone (including me, as if I didn't give it to her lol) and she's been glowing in the week since I proposed. She can't stop looking at it. Kennon absolutely nailed it and I couldn't be happier with the experience. We'll be back for our wedding bands and any other jewelry we'll be buying in the future.
Additionally, Kennon saved me loads of money by giving me timely and accurate advice about the natural diamond market, the lab grown diamond market, and the gold market, so that I could time my purchase properly to get the most bang for the buck. A few other jewelers I went to told me his advice about the future market wasn't accurate and I "should buy now", but several months later, he was completely correct! What kind of jeweler advises their client to help them save rather than simply trying to get top dollar? An honest jeweler. A local small business owner with integrity and true care and compassion for his clients. This is the type of experience often missing from the world these days, so to receive that service and level of care from a true expert in their field is like a warm hug.
To boot, Kennon is just a genuine person with great insights and a knack for making others feel comfortable. I went to several other jewelers and each time left feeling "greasy" and uncomfortable with the interactions. With Kennon, it feels like you're just talking to a friend who knows a lot more than you about the task at hand, but he explains it all in detail by educating you without a hint of condescension. I never once felt naive or stupid, and that's a testament to how concisely and carefully Kennon relays his expertise.
There are few businesses in any industry that treat their customers/clients with as much dignity and respect as Kennon does. I HIGHLY recommend Kennon, Vermont Gem Lab, and Starlust and I will 100% be back to buy all of my and my future wife's jewelry from him as long as...
Read moreI contacted Vermont Gem Lab about 3-4 years ago before my wedding. My [now] husband proposed to me with my grandmother's engagement ring and wedding band - she had gotten married in 1946, so both definitely needed a little work. I had taken the engagement ring to a local jeweler ONLY to have the band resized downward to fit my finger. When I got it back, they had reinforced the prongs around the central diamond without contacting me first. Normally I'd be grateful, but this was a vintage setting and not just 4 simple prongs. It had an art deco design and millegraining all around. I was not happy that they did this without even contacting me to ask if they could make alterations, as it's a vintage piece. They told me the prongs were really worn down and I was at risk of losing the center diamond, which is why they reinforced the prongs for me (albeit free of charge).
After extensive research online, I was really impressed with Kennon's restoration section of his website. Some of the rings were very similar to my grandmother's. I called him and spoke with him personally to discuss what had happened at the other store, and get his opinion. I sent him pictures and he graciously discussed with me the entire process he would use to repair my ring, if I sent it to him or brought it by the shop. He described everything in very specific, minute detail. It made perfect sense, and I had seen good reviews of his work. So, I took a chance and sent my ring to him (I was out-of-state and unable to make a trip to see him directly). I received it a few months later and was immediately impressed. It was stunning. Gorgeous. He also reinforced the prongs and redid all of the millegraining on the wedding band, too, but the biggest problem was the engagement ring, which is why I am mostly showing photos of that. I highly recommend him. The process was a little slower than I expected, but Kennon MORE than made up for it with impeccable customer service, even going so far as do to a little extra work free-of-charge because of the delays in repairing my ring. I'm very happy with it. I was married in 2016 and have had 0 problems with my ring. I can't say enough good things about...
Read moreWe got my engagement ring from here and Kennon and Amber were amazing to work with. Kennon took three diamonds that came from my grandmother's ring and my finance's grandmother's ring and created the perfect setting incorporating our ideas and his expertise. The original diamonds were old and had a lot of wear and tear but after he sent them out, they came back bright and sparkling and our families don’t even recognize them as the original dull stones they started off as. We are thrilled to be able to keep our family stones as part of the engagement ring. Kennon was a perfectionist with this ring and was able to provide us with different design options as we formulated the perfect setting. Amber kept us in the loop of the process, always providing updates on the timeline for the completion of the ring. It was a delight for the two of us to work with the Vermont Gem Lab and we look forward to working with them again. Thank you Kennon and Amber for making my engagement ring perfect. I...
