A good stop for lunch on a Saturday afternoon while shopping Church Street Marketplace. A bit overcrowded considering the COVID environment, but a good vibe throughout and energized staff. A decent selection of drinks included a pint of Guinness and local brews, too. We ordered a tray of loaded nachos with abundant toppings. The chili was on the sweet side for me and the chicken was dry, but the mound of chips and cheese with Jalapeno peppers was enough for two or three. The highlight of the lunch break was the Honey Habanero wings. Plump, juicy, with crispy skin (just like I like them!) and drenched in a sweet and potent sauce! A few weeks ago, I enjoyed a good Carolina Reaper mash that lit my scalp on fire, but these habanero wings at the Tavern...they were spicy. Be prepared for the heat that for some reason does not hit like a typical habanero. These wings develop quickly with intense heat from lip to stomach, and then fade almost as quickly. Keep dipping in the honey sauce for a continued burn that settles nicely with a round of dark beer....

Today is the first time I have been to a restaurant that has medically discriminated against my son who has special needs. The establishment was unable to provide an allergy menu or ingredients to verify that meals could be safely consumed by my five year old. When advised that we travel with food for him our waiter stated that we could not feed him with outside food. At this time we left the establishment and went to a better restaurant on church street.

To be frank i have been coming to the church street taven since attending Norwich University in the early 2000's. This has been the first time my family and I have ever been medically discriminated against and the last time we will ever visit the Church...

We ended up here as none of us felt like waiting at other places. The girl seating people was really friendly and got us a table outside. The atmosphere is great. People watching and just enjoying being outside. Our server was attentive and solid. Our drinks came super quick and I loved the beer I got. So far five stars. However, it took 45 minutes to get our food and things around had died down so wasn’t crazy busy to justify the wait. We are patient though so no big deal. The food…just ok. Nothing stood out. Overall I think four stars is fair since I can’t say we had a bad meal. It just wasn’t great or memorable. If back down in that area I would more than likely try...

COVID: They have a good outdoor space but the heaters DO NOT work. Expect to eat in the cold. Other then that all the staff were friendly and wearing their mask. (5/5 RATING) Food: Roasted Garlic Mushrooms- Delicious but probably the only good thing I tasted from this place. (Pictured) Nachos- Plain and very plain. Could def be better. (Pictured) Chicken Teriyaki Philly Sandwich- Did not do it for me. I wasn't expecting something out of this world but chicken was pretty subpar. (Pictured) French Onion Soup- Did not have it but took a picture of it. Friend said it was ok. (Pictured)

I was very happy with the visit to the historic church street marketplace and the stop at the Tavern did not disappoint. I enjoyed the patio weather and the sights. The service was friendly and fast most of the time. I did have to go in to pay as the waitress was busy eating her lunch inside even though I had requested the bill 10 minutes before, which was annoying. The food was decent for pub fare. Wings, salad and a wrap were ordered and enjoyed. The bloody Mary was not very good to be honest, but it was well presented. Overall I'd stop by again.

We really loved this place. Chill atmosphere, very friendly wait staff, great food and the wine selection was excellent, diverse and actually reasonable as well. We found our wedding we’re going to use for our wedding there. I think this place got a bad rap in the past but is under new management now abd you can tell they’re really paying attention to details. Special shout out to Raymond at the bar abd Andrew as our waiter. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would.
