Wires Computing — Local services in Burlington

Fixes (especially) mail-in takes a min 10 days for any actual progress to report (this excludes shipping days). They advertise and sound on call that the fixes especially micro-soldering is their forte. I was told that an IPAD charging dock replacement which was my service request here was a walk-in same day replacement and they do hundreds of them. weekly. But when you ship them, another guy arrogantly comes back with all these conditions and if you say you don't need it, they'll charge you 49$ diagnosis fee, and the diagnosis is what i had already listed in my original request for the repair. BTW this diagnosis is a free of charge in any nearby repair stores (like iFix).

When they finally get to it, there's the part ordering time, wait time, fix time and after all if you're lucky it'll be fixed. what happened to the same day fix quote??, In my case they reported my IPAD Pro motherboard was short circuited and it was scrap and they'll offer me 40$ cash to take the IPAD away from my hands. i guess they can sell it more for parts, who knows. i had to pay a~70$ diagnosis fees finally to get my IPAD Pro back (they call it Level 2 diagnosis)

Anyways at this time, i cannot confirm if the short circuit happened because of their poor workmanship but I strongly believe it is as the IPAD shutdown after the battery completely drained out, so wondering how would it short circuit if no charge left and can't charge it. I personally wouldn't recommend this company, and suggest take it directly to Apple, it's the same cost and even if it is more, every extra $ you pay is worth it. They are not apple certified, so if they open your device then Apple will not accept it for any further repairs.

Responding to the owners update: As a customer and an IPAD Pro owner i would not ship it to somebody if i wasn’t so convinced on what was told to me; and my ratings now reflects the confidence i have for any future dealings with this repair vendor based on my experience. Also, like to correct on the term Non-Working used here. It was drained off charge and would not Turn ON until a working charging was provided. The original apple provided lightning cable broke with half of the piece still inside (not any aftermarket) and so could not be charged. And this is the reason why i strongly feel how the short circuit story doesn’t add up. Anyways, i also misread past ratings, should have paid attention to what kind of fixes earned higher ratings.

Also, the harsh language reference by the owner in their response, is for my communication requesting Wires Computing to provide their short circuit story (communicated over phone with the 40$ Cash offer) in writing and me asking for a warranty support if it ever proves that the short circuit happened due to poor workmanship and their wrong doing, then Wires Computing should be accountable for the expenses to fix -and if not then i need no warranty. It is a very genuine and fair request that would come from any apple owners knowing how much we paid for these. They never provided anything in writing on what was communicated and never accepted the warranty requested, which forced me to give this rating. Why would they not agree if they’re not at fault here?

Hope future IPAD or mobile owners like me finds this review and inputs helpful. P.S. this is my personal rating and I cannot provide a rating or talk for all the services that WireComputing offers but only provide my rating based on my experience i had for a service that i paid for. Hope others wouldn’t have similar language barrier situations...

I had my 2020 Macbook screen replaced here three times within a year and when it broke a fourth time I started to wonder. The service was always efficient and friendly but this seemed like a lot of malfunctioning screens. Out of caution, I even asked to confirm they were replacing it with an Apple screen to which they said yes. I spoke with an Apple customer service rep and they requested I get my computer screen replaced at an Apple certified shop. I had this new shop inspect the screen that Wires Computing had put on. They confirmed that the screen had some abnormalities and was likely a used/refurbished Apple part because it was not directly from Apple. When I spoke with Wires Computing about this, they finally confirmed that they were using a refurbished screen because it was cheaper. It is important for businesses to disclose these details so consumers are aware of the service when they make the purchase and can make their own decisions about how to spend their money. Wires Computing was not upfront about this information until I knew the exact question to ask. The cost of the refurbished replacements from Wires ranged $450 - $550 & Apple quoted me $500-$600 for a new screen replacement so the price difference wasn't huge.The Apple technician also noted a couple other issues with my computer from the work Wires did, which he kindly sorted for me. I have only had my Macbook worked on at Wires, so they may be great for other electronics, but I would definitely not recommend them for Apple service & I would caution all customers to ask lots of questions to confirm what they are getting from this company!

EDIT: When I read the response from Wires for this review, I noticed the recall they reference is for Macbooks sold between 2016-2018 and mine is a 2020 Macbook Pro. This leaves me concerned that Wires installed a recalled screen on my 2020 Mac during their service.

When I went to Wires for my fourth screen repair, they suggested I repair the screen again through them and then try to sell my computer. Instead, I called Apple customer service and explained my problem and they generously warrantied my screen to be replaced at a local Apple...

I used Thumtack ® to access a computer repair specialist and cited “instability” as the problem with my HP laptop. Wirescomputing.com responded with a bid of $45 to fix my issue. After dropping the LT off, I was informed my device was infected with numerous Malware programs. I was informed it would now be $100 to fix and I approved. When my wife picked up the unit she was told “he’ll have to change his Microsoft password”. I did after researching how, but when I attempted to log in on the HP, my new password wasn’t accepted. I telephoned the owner looking for help; his response was for me to call Microsoft Support and it might be necessary to “wipe” my device and reinstall Windows 10. After hours of research, I figured out what was wrong and was able to log in and open Win 10. Once I did, the computer demonstrated the very same symptoms it did when I dropped it off initially. I left a message on his website Sunday evening and when it wasn’t answered, I call the owner again on Tuesday afternoon. He once again told me the laptop had to be wiped and when asked, told me it would be at least an additional $70. That was the end of our relationship. So on an initial bid of $45, it was going to cost me $170. (as an aside, I was told my inquiry left on his website had been responded to with a “lengthy” email. I never received it and when asked to resend it, the owner quickly moved on to a new topic).

I leave feeling I was “lowballed” initially and when I approved his quote to “fix” the laptop that should have been it. Wires Computing did not stand by their work and never offered any suggestions to figure out my password and login issues. Extremely dissatisfied and would...
