I visited the shop looking for specialty cards for card control and manipulation, and I clearly communicated this to the staff. However, the employee demonstrated tricks with non-card props, placed them on the counter, and became visibly upset when I only purchased the cards I came for. After paying, I was disappointed to hear a comment implying I’d just “shuffle cards in my mom’s basement” rather than entertain with other tricks.
As a suggestion to the owner: when a customer specifies their interests, focus on those or clarify if the shop has limited options in that area. Most importantly, avoid insulting customers for not purchasing items they didn’t want. The employee’s sharp, rude responses made the experience uncomfortable, especially since I was already familiar with the tricks shown and not interested in performing for children’s parties. Read moreThe man is a good man, I walked or just feeling like a better magician and he had answers for every question I asked. He showed me plenty of tricks and told me which ones would be perfect for me. I left spending 46bucks when I originally wanted to only spend 20, (so he's a good business man) but he was not trying to rip me off. I love what I left with and so do many and many of my friends. I asked about stuff I should consider buying in the future at the shop (cause I will definitely be going again) and he showed me even more stuff.

Would it have been so difficult to show this customer (who had two well behaved toddlers in tow who were excited about seeing magic tricks) who just made a purchase, the card trick one more time?
