I am very upset by the actions of your Calumet pharmacy today, Saturday Feb 1st. My pain medication is filled every two weeks, on Saturdays. At 1046 AM today a text was received showing it ready, unfortunately by 1:45 pm when I arrived to pick it up, the pharmacist had decided to leave and closed early. As you know narcotics are closely controlled and I was totally out with my pain on the rise. We were told by the lone clerk at the store that the pharmacist had left for a funeral. While I completely understand his desire to leave for a personal matter, wouldn't it have been logical to at least leave a junior pharmacist or clerk to attend to the pharmacy to make sure that vital meds got to the patients that needed them? Unfortunately, since I could not pick up my prescription, I was directed by my doctor's answering service to go to the Emergency room at the local hospital. After 2 1/2 hours and fair amount of pain, I received 6 tablets, which was enough to get me through the night and till the next day, without having to suffer through not only pain, but withdrawal symptoms. As much as I like Snyder's, I think that your patients need either a "heads up" by text if you are closing early or at least a single pharmacy staffer to see to it that patients are not left without crucial meds. And I don't think I'm the only patient who had this issue, as even the Emergency room doctor was aware of the "problem". Yes, I'll still be using Snyder's, but I can only be grateful for having decent health insurance and finding compassionate and knowledgeable E.R. doctor. I certainly hope that not too many other customers had to go through what I did, or that if they did, they are very understanding. If I wasn't well insured, I can promise that I would've come in on Monday, and presented the owners with a bill for my E.R. charges. I certainly hope that the next time an issue like this arises, someone has the foresight to think about the patients and customers that depend upon you all at Snyder's pharmacy for prescriptions that they need and are counting on, especially on a weekend when even the doctor's...
