The Lilypad is a wonderful small music venue in Cambridge that books a diverse array of performers. It is a gem of a place that keeps the music and culture going. It has the open-minded vibe of a performance and art space, instead of booking only certain ends of the spectrum, as many venues do. You are as likely to find here skillful, and often edgy, jazz and world musicians that might play in a concert hall as you are rock and pop acts trying to set the new trends while playing the clubs. You can check their listings to see what's playing, but I'd say it's a safe bet to just go there and take a chance on what they've curated for you. I remember this space hanging their sign in late 2012/early 2013 shortly after I moved to an apt nearby (I live further away now but still close enough to bike down there in 20 min), and it's great that a place like this not only exists, but that it's been going strong for nearly a decade.

Read moreThe Lilypad is a beautiful place in a great location that provides a vital, safe DIY space for Boston's underground music scene. I've seen fantastic shows here. Also, they have a bar and can sell you lamplighter beers, which are tasty. The bathroom is small but adaquate, not sure how accessible the building is. There's great space for an audience and a good nook to put a merch table in. If you're gonna book a show in the Boston area, I highly recommend the Lilypad. You should know, however, that they have a room fee, and it's not cheap. It is easy to make back in...
Read moreIt's crusty and small but it's just right. I had a pleasant time seeing Charlie Martin. They have a bar and bathrooms.
Feedback regarding accessibility: It was unfortunate that they put all the chairs away for the show. Even at larger venues with far more pumped up artists, there are chairs placed to either side of the stage for folks with different abilities or health conditions that limit the ability to stand for the duration of a show. A friend in our group had to sit down on a bench due to back pain but...
