Visited the location on 6/23/25. I did a trade in for multiple game titles across multiple consoles. I was attended to by the business owner Rudy Treadwell. Rudy was very friendly to begin with which made the way the interaction ended that much more disappointing. Rudy struck up conversation while scanning the titles into his system. I was provided two amounts for valuation as sum totals of the items being traded in one value the smaller amount being a cash payout option the other 25 percent more valuation towards store credit.
I looked around and ultimately not much caught my eye but I was ultimately interested in purchasing a Nintendo switch console since my current one was having some issues with d pad and power button. I asked about that console he gave me a price and mentioned it was the original run version 1 console which he had stickered for 160.00. I applied my store credit towards the item and paid the balance due on it.
When I went to setup the console I noticed an excessively loud fan noise when idle. I can understand fan noise when docked or during gameplay but it should not sound like a jet engine when idle.
I called the next day and spoke with Rudy and expressed my concerns with not only the condition of the console as the unit only has a 90 day warranty. I was met with a complete 360 in demeanor and a lack of professionalism that speaks volumes about Mr. Rudy’s character. He was mad that was being a customer that is never gonna be happy with anything. Accusing me of expecting new condition on used product. — never tell a customer or assume their expectations. Furthermore Mr. Rudy started getting rude and unprofessional stating that I was haggling him on prices… news flash it’s second hand retail sales haggling is the nature of the business. If that’s not the way you “run your business” fair but you should post that in your store and on your website and not try to a attack or berate customers on the phone who are coming to you with a problem.
I also expressed concerns about the price I was charged $160 for a V1 switch console which was advertised on the store website for $120 and the V2 switch is listed at $160.
Rudy is a nice guy till he decides not to be. Mind you all throughout the interaction I was nothing but cordial and polite to someone who chose to be rude to me on the phone when I presented concerns.
Rudy also doesn’t like being questioned about anything and he doesn’t like being asked valuations on individual items he wants to give you a number and have you say yes or no to the trade in.
Rudy was audibly upset throughout the phone interaction and reluctantly agreed to work with me on a solution all I want is to get what is advertised on the website a V2 switch.
As of this coming Wednesday it will have been a month since I brought my concerns to Rudy and I have gotten no update on a resolution.
Rudy doesn’t like accountably or transparency and just offers a myriad of excuses and false promises. I get that he doesn’t program the website and there’s limitations on how he can post prices for product but ultimately you are advertising prices falsely on the site and not owning up to or taking accountability which leaves me feeling like I got fleeced. If you can’t properly price consoles online then you should post them without pricing and sell them only in store.
Pros Cool store nice layout and good environment and community for gaming and anime hobbyists
Gives good valuation for trade in on most tities
Cons
Valuation on bigger items is less than market value. Be aware of the value of your bigger items if you don’t know what you have do the research before completing trade ins.
Lacking in customer service and professionalism.
Lack of transparency on trade in valuation and doesn’t like being asked individual trade in values.
False advertised listings on consoles on the website vs the in store sticker price
8/4/2025 - Rudy, I was never told to bring the console for an exchange. You stated it’s...
Read moreIt pains me to have to write this review. I love this store. Me and my family usually stop in here once or twice a month while walking the farmers market or whenever my son wants to play at the arcade. Really enjoy the mix of retro games, retro anime toys, anime dvds, strategy guides, and my son and wife love the gashapon and arcade. Today is my first bad experience after shopping here for 4+ years thanks to the guy on the register. Right away when I walked in I wasn't welcomed in, walked by the register twice not once did he offer a greeting or help, he seemed annoyed. My wife said she didn't want to be around the register at all. My son found a preowned game for his switch and I kept looking for things to buy and I noticed they had a preowned Kingdom Hearts 2 limited edition strategy guide that they had re-wrapped in plastic. The guide has 2 books and an exterior cover so you can't see the books inside unless you open it. I went up to register to make my purchase. He didn't offer any pleasantries he just said "That it?" I asked him can I open this plastic wrap on the preowned strategy guide because I want to see what book cover it has. He looked at me said "I don't know what cover it has but go ahead open it." So I opened it from the plastic wrap, opened the case to see inside and inside was a regular edition of the strategy guide. I told him "Ah man no thanks, it's just a regular edition guide." This dude angrily tossed the book behind him onto the back counter, didn't say a word to me. Turned the machine to me to pay. After I paid he condescendingly said to me "If it was a limited edition strategy guide it would cost you $70 more." I just looked at him instead of escalating so he can validate his behavior I said "Ok. No worries." He responded "I'm not worried." Shrugged him off and left. Extremely unprofessional individual. I'm surprised he is being asked to be anywhere near customers. He could have said no to me asking to open a preowned item, or since he so condescendingly knew it wasn't a limited edition strategy guide he could have said we repacked a regular edition into a limited edition packaging. Thankfully I checked the book, I would have been more upset to think I purchased a limited edition book and find out it was a regular edition. I'm extremely disappointed this even happened. Rudy, Sammy, and Truong have always been great to interact with over the years. I'm still extremely shocked by this day after all the work Rudy has put into this store.
EDIT: As I was unfollowing all their social medias I noticed the name on the reciept doesn't match up with who was on register. The guy on the register looked to actually have...
Read moreRetro Fix II Turbo is a gem for gamers and collectors alike. I've been here a few times with my partner, who's a huge gaming enthusiast, and every visit reminds us why this store is such a treasure.
Tonight, we saw an Instagram post from Rudy, the owner, announcing they'd be open until midnight. That was all the motivation we needed to get out of our PJs and head over.
Walking in, we were once again blown away by their incredible collection. The store has games for just about every system imaginable--Nintendo, Gameboy, all the PlayStations, and an impressive selection of Japanese imports. What really stood out this visit was their new Japanese arcade selection, which we're super excited to return and explore further.
Rudy is fantastic--friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about gaming. His expertise added to the experience, and we ended up buying several games we're thrilled to add to our collection.
One of the coolest features of the shop is the gaming lounge in the back, complete with couches where you can kick back and play. It's a perfect spot to relax and immerse yourself in games old and new.
If you're a gamer, this place is a must-visit. You'll lose yourself in the amazing collection, discover hidden gems, and have a blast....
