This is truly a Canton treasure, a place so many have relied upon throughout the years- the one constant that remains at many holiday tables. Going here is an old-fashioned experience, and the atmosphere inside is indicative of the past. Picking candies is the most fun, as long as you have the open mind that the candies aren’t individually labeled, so once you grab the ones you want, you put them in the traditional candy box, and then they get all mixed together. But again, that is the “fun” of it, and when it’s time to pick a chocolate to enjoy, it’ll be a surprise to find out which one you’ll get. The staff were helpful, but not super approachable or talkative. I did feel a little out of place here, but knew it is just a place that isn’t like most places that are around nowadays. I live in Florida, ordered three pounds of candy. The girl that took my order said she didn't know the shipping cost or what the tax would be, but she would call me the next day. The next day came and went and I got no call. So the following day I called them, and when she told me the total cost, I said I would cancel the order, as it was over double of what just the candy cost that she had quoted me on the day that I ordered. If she would have called me as she said she would, there would not have been a problem. They have canceled the order, but now tell me I can never order from them again. Heggy's is a family tradition for us. I remember going there with my grandpa when I was a little girl, & getting a chocolate Coke. (Yum!) Whenever I'm in Ohio, I make a point to stop at 1 of the Heggy's locations. The French mints are my personal favorite, but you can't go wrong with any of their chocolates or nuts. They'll also ship to you, or for you. At least once a year, I try to send a box of Heggy's chocolates to my mom. The staff has always been friendly & helpful - & patient while I try to decide which chocolates to get. Thankfully, the smells are free! Unfortunately, they don't carry sugar-free chocolates.
