Running short on funds. My wife and kids assured me that it would be "ok." We can sell a few things, grab a little dinner, and get enough $ to get into my daughters game(cheerleader). I was SO EXCITED to hear that we could get in our closet, grab our gently USED name brand clothing that we were willing to part with, and run up to Platos for a few $. Home from Church and get to work! Had a time laughing and enjoying this 5 hour mission! They closed at 6! We HAD TO make this happen for dinner and daughters game! We loaded 2 bags of nearly BRAND NEW Abercrombie, Express, Guess, Tommy, Hollister, AE, Hurley, etc. 30 min folding nice, making presentable, hoping to catch their eye! With over 40pc of nearly BRAND NEW clothes that they said they looked for on their website, I JUST KNEW things were going to be "ok." All I needed was $20 to make it! Im less than 10 min away, 5pm, they close at 6pm, and I got sacks full of like BRAND NEW name brand clothes! High hopes, joyful and motivated, 4hrs of closets, and 10min later? "We're sorry. We dont take clothes after 5pm"..UMMM...Huh!? You dont what?? You dont take what after what?? But dont yall close at?? "Yes sir, Im sorry, we close at 6pm, but we dont take clothes on Sun. after 5pm. Come back tomm." I tucked my tail between my legs and drove back home. CRUSHED, BROKER (gas light on now), AND HUMBLED.. "Lord it's in Your hands." MONDAY-On a good foot!! We're going to DEF get paid today!! At least we can get in the game tonight!! Platos 4pm. "I need your ID, leave your bags right there, and fill this out. Now keep your phone on you, because we are going to text you once we have an offer..about an hour..Thank you for coming in Mr. Lewis!" NICE PEOPLE. Treated me very nice, and I was very optimistic about today. I knew I worked until 6pm anyway, I could come back at 6:30, and Im in the money!! 5pm?? 5:30pm?? 6:00pm?? Went ahead and worked a little late. They must be REALLY like our things and are going to get us $!! After all, I had over 40 items of clothing!! 6:30pm?? Im going up there..if they ain't done, I can be there for the good news!! 6:45pm. "You had some REALLY NICE things, ALL OF THE NAMES we were looking for, in super shape, and they were exactly the sizes we were looking for! You did everything perfect! We are going to send you home with this bag, and we have made a bid on the clothes in the bottom of this bag. We will offer you $11 for the 3 items!! Unfortunately the other clothes, are not 2017 or 2018. Almost everything in here is in beyond great shape, but it's not the right year. I'm sorry.. $11 on these 3 items though (The only 2 short sleeve button up UGLY SHIRTS, were NOT name brand, my Grandpas, and a Hurley sleeveless shirt)" "Your gonna offer me what?? Your gonna send me home with what? Your sorry but what??" Holy moly!! Out of 20-25 collared Hollister, Abercrombie, Tommy Shirts, 10-12 Ts of the same, 2 pairs of nice Amercian Eagle and Guess jeans, a few SUPER SHARP Express long sleeve. "We are going to send you home with this bag..We normally dont buy anything unless it's still out in the mall..." You only buy what? When it's still in the where?? But this is a USED clothing what??SOOO...Needless to say, we were able to get in the game free!! We were late because I kept one ear on the phone for 2 1/2 hours waiting on my text..only to be told when I showed up that they were actually complete an hour after I dropped them off...lol...What an AMAZING TIME I had with Platos closet!! 2 stars because the girls were at least smiling and nice when they crushed me!! Lol. Make sure if you go here to sell your clothes? YOU MUST go to mall first, buy it for $80, $90, $100, wear it a couple times (if you want to? You dont necessarily have to even wear it), go to the closet, make sure your in the same year, run back up to the mall, make sure they still carry the item of clothing, then run back to Platos closet, sell it to them for $5-$10, do that 6 or 8 times, and you will have raised enough to go back to the mall and do it...
Read moreDue to an illness, I dropped from a size 10 to a size 2 in 3.5 months. Over those few months (May 2023-September 2023) I had to wash and rebuy my wardrobe multiple times. Some stuff I never even got to wear and still had tags on it! 90% of what I brought in was in BRAND NEW condition. High end designer brands. So much brand new Victoriaâs Secret, Nike athletics, tons of American eagle sweaters and cardigans. 8 pairs of various jeans from buckle and American eagle that were purchased within the last three months and worn very few times. New with tags Michael Kors bag. 80% of everything I had is what they were specifically looking for for this season! New!!!! The five things they bought from me were literally from the 10% of things that were not in brand new condition. Two of those things I even questioned throwing in my sell container to begin with because they were well worn. One of the shirts I sold that was well loved had the matching shirt in a different color same size brand bought at the same time I only wore twice because I didnât like the color on me, but they bought the one I wore a lot and not the matching one that was basically new! I spent so much time making sure everything was clean and free from any lint or hair. Freshly laundered unless the tags were attached. I scanned the store after I dropped off to see what they offered and the types of things they purchase. A lot of (not all) was in questionable condition. ESPECIALLY THE SHOES. There was one pair of Vans on the rack that even made me go âeeekâ but then was confident if they purchased this stuff in this condition that I was golden and good to go. I had two laundry baskets nicely folded, organized by style and size. Honestly I didnât even have any expectations of what they would pay me. If they took this off my hands and I recouped a small amount of money I would not have even second guessed whatever they offered me. I would have just taken it. I had actually planned to buy a couple of things with that money and had a pair of shoes picked out. I am just baffled at their buying practices. I am impressed that they managed to leave such a bad taste in the mouth of someone who didnât have high or literally really expectations going in other than: I have (mostly- not all of it was great) brand new, in style, clothing in specific brands styles and sizes they are currently looking for as listed on their updated website. My only expectation was that they would buy SOME of it from me dirt cheap and call it a win on their end and call it a day on my end. And I would have turned around and spent that money back in there!! đ in the end I took my $14 for the five things I sold ONLY because they were probably the most well loved out of everything (absolutely just at loss for words on this one) and now I didnât have to try to sell those less than desirable items myself. I am VERY confused on WHAT their buying practice is, but now I wonât even SHOP from there. Take the time you would have wasted going in there and sell on marketplace or poshmark or something of that nature, get more $$, and check out Shein. Their clothing quality is actually very impressive, brand new, and still...
Read moreASK HOW MUCH THEY ARE PAYING YOU FOR YOUR HIGHER END ITEMS. Took a bunch of stuff to sell today. One of the items I brought in was a Guess watch that I paid over $100 for just last year, barely worn and it still retails for that. I was standing near the counter waiting for them to finish my buy and overheard the employee (believe her name is Nancy) laugh and say âpretty sure they sell Guess watches at Walmartâ which I thought was extremely unprofessional and insulting, considering it was not bought at Walmart and it was not cheap. When she told me how much they were paying me for my items, I asked how much they are giving for the watch. She said they take the average of the low and high price of the item on resale sites and they could sell it for $15-20 which means they were going to pay me $3. THREE DOLLARS. I understand they need to make a profit but they couldâve easily sold it for $40-$50 and paid me $20. I already had a bad taste in my mouth after over hearing the employeesâ comment and then was more insulted by that. I took my item back. If youâre going to bring in any higher end items, make sure you ask what theyâre paying you and be prepared to get chump change! They will rip you off. And Platoâs, tell your employees to watch what they say...
