Sportsman's Warehouse — Local services in Cape Coral

So, I purchased a firearm at the store a few weeks ago. It was not in stock and had to be ordered and I paid in full at that time. Upon the firearm arriving at the store, I completed the paperwork for the mandatory background check, which was approved almost immediately. I was then informed that I could not take the firearm with me because of the three day waiting period. I know that the three day waiting period starts at the time of purchase, but was told I had to wait three more business days. I went home and confirmed that that three day period begins when I paid, not three days after the background check. I called the store and spoke with the manager, who repeated the wrong information about the waiting period. My suggestion to anyone wishing to purchase from them, don't. They either don't know the laws of Florida or do not care. To further confirm what I knew, I called Bass Pro Shop in Fort Myers and they confirmed the three days started at the time of purchase.

I ordered a shot gun on-line at the beginning of December 2023. After 23 days I received a text that I could pick up my gun. When I went to get the gun, I had to fill out a Sportsman's Warehouse questionnaire and I got 1 answer wrong and they said they had to put a 30 day hold on the gun. After the wait, I went to get the gun and the young counter clerk said he wouldn't accept my Florida license, my Florida hunting license and Michigan state hunter safety card. And he was going to put another 3 day hold on the gun because I didn't have a concealed weapons card. I told him that the state of Florida will accept all other states hunter safety card along with the Florida hunting license. So I didn't have to wait the 3 day hold. I've have purchased many guns from Bass Pro Shop this way many times before. He said he didn't like my attitude and then proceeded to say he didn't have to sell me the gun I've been waiting for almost 2 months and he handed me a Firearm receipt and said have a nice day. I called the corporate office and told them about it and they said they are sorry and will have a talk with them and educate them on the Florida laws. That I was correct on that statement and he shouldn't have done what he did to me as a customer. I got an apology from corporate. (Whoopi) So now I'm out of a gun and I have to wait 7 to 10 days to get my money back. I will never buy a gun from them again and have it shipped to the Cape Coral, Florida store. You lost this...

I really want to like this store, but . . . I only shop there for ammunition and shooting supplies.

On the plus side, they have decent gun and ammo prices.

On the negative, their ammo selection in store is very hit and miss. They always seem to be out of common brands of ammo that you can pick up at Bass Pro or anywhere else in stock anytime you want. It’s common to walk in and see entire sections of the ammo or accessory shelves completely empty. A significant portion of the stacks of ammo boxes have no price underneath them. And even when there are prices, the in-store vs website prices often differ. So you never really know how much the ammo is. If you buy ammo on sale, you do not get the case volume discount for buying 10 boxes at a time. Their discount codes exclude ammo purchases.

I really wanted to like this store because it’s far closer to my home than Bass Pro. But it’s where that I can get the ammo I want in stock at the store. So now I just have Bass Pro price match the sportsman’s price on the ammo and I can pick it up for that price in store at Bass...
