Be warned, this place is fun and comfortable but some of these wines will demand your attention and close scrutiny. While some may be fine tossing back a tasting pour in one gulp, the true beauty of the wines crafted by Wrath are best examined through careful study.
I have been here several times and always had a very pleasant experience. While the level of knowledge varies between the various tasting room attendants, they are always nice, courteous, and helpful. The wines are very impressive and deserve careful consideration. They make more varieties of pinot noir than any other local winery but the sheer variety and complexity of each demonstrates how you can make (or taste) 8 different pinots and find a world of difference between each. Their syrahs and chardonnays are beautiful as well and really showcase the local vineyards of the Santa Lucia Highlands and the Arroyo Seco AVAs.
As if the brilliant wine wasn't enough, this place is also next door to the Cheese Shop where you education into the world of cheese making is waiting to begin. Truly any self styled gastronome should become very familiar with...
Read moreWrath has a fantastic winemaker, Sabrine Rodems who leaves people thirsty for more excellent pinot noirs, chardonnays, syrahs and even stainless steel sauvignon blanc. A local hot spot that is worth visiting for tasting locally sourced grapes. Inspired by Led Zeppelin and not the Grapes of Wrath, the aromas will definitely punch you right on the nose. Do visit! The staff are wonderful, the cheese shop is next door(great for pairing), and the wine never stops pouring. Definitely try the tondré, The Swan, the San Saba syrah, and their latest, sauv blanc in a can! Also, wrath has membership and ships to a number of states! Great wines. It’s no wonder the locals try and keep...
Read moreWe were in Monterey and decided to try Wrath after a recommendation. The hostess was really knowledgeable of not just the history of Wrath but also the Central Coast wine region. Most of us are Chardonnay fans and our group really liked the EX Unoaked Chardonnay. We sat on the patio outside of the tasting room and bought bottles of the EX to go. Later when we opened a bottle three of us found it was not the wine we had tasted earlier- it was spoiled- undrinkable. The reason for the one star is the lack of management's response to our experience. We reached out multiple times and have not been offered replacement...
