Our stay at the Adobe Inn in Carmel-by-the-Sea was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we arrived, everything was smooth and welcoming. Check-in with Jean was quick and friendly — she made us feel right at home.
One charming touch is that the Adobe Inn still uses traditional keys instead of electronic cards. It adds to the cozy, classic feel of the place and makes it stand out from modern chain hotels.
The inn’s location is unbeatable — just steps from downtown Carmel’s beautiful streets, unique boutiques, art galleries, and amazing restaurants. Exploring the area couldn’t have been easier or more enjoyable.
Our room was a true highlight. It was incredibly spacious, featuring a comfortable living room, a huge bedroom with two queen-size beds, and two full bathrooms — perfect for families or friends traveling together. We also loved having two private balconies where we could unwind and soak in the fresh coastal breeze.
While the Adobe Inn isn’t a five-star luxury hotel, we also didn’t pay $1,000 a night for it — and that’s exactly why it’s such a fantastic find. It offers incredible value, comfort, and plenty of space in a prime location. It’s clean, quiet, and full of that special Carmel charm.
We’re already planning our next visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a spacious, comfortable stay right in the heart of...
Read moreThe normal check-in time is 4 PM so we called a few hours before to see if we could get an early check-in. My wife called and spoke to a young lady and she said that the room would be ready by 1 PM. When we arrived, I walked up to the counter and Sergio, the general manager was there and I asked him if we could check in and he told me to come back in half an hour. He wasn’t very friendly and that gave me a sour taste in my mouth. We came back a half hour later, and the young lady, who was wonderful was able to accommodate our early check-in. Upon checking into the room, it was a little dated but overall it seemed pretty clean. The room fit our needs as we were traveling with a small Chihuahua. Everything seemed OK until we went to take a shower. The tub drain hardware was rusted and falling out of its slot and the shower curtain rod was very flimsy and would not stay in place. We realize that this was a busy time but to pay over $300 per night you would expect more. Upon checking out, there was a young man that took care of us. I mentioned to him our issues and his response was well “its an old hotel”! That is no excuse for non-functioning hardware or lack of friendliness towards...
