Sunset Center — Attraction in Carmel-by-the-Sea

Sunset Center puts money over kindness. Today I went there to see Bruce Hornsby with yMusic. yMusic was excellent. Bruce Hornsby can still play the piano, but his voice is shot. I left at the intermission. Great artists need to stop touring when they can't perform up to professional standards anymore. It just reality.

But what was worse was that my family couldn't go with me, so I had 2 tickets I decided to give away. I had emailed SC to ask about their no resale policy and threat to punish those who do....no response. So when I got there, I explained to the woman at the box office my desire to gift them to someone and she said she would help, so I left the tickets with her, trusting she wouldn't waste them and be kind to two people. Big mistake, she wasted them. 2, $80 orchestra seat tickets plus taxes and fees, wasted. Greed overcomes kindness at Sunset Center.

She explained that they let a person go who wasn't working out and that's probably why my email wasn't responded to. It sounds to me that they let the wrong person go. Shame on her and Sunset Center!!! I would have stood outside to give them away for free, but I trusted her!!!! I'm sad and disappointed in...

The venue is a nice little venue in its own right. The only thing is that there might not be a clear sense of understanding regarding their no-flash photography: we were there for a performance by the community youth, and the ushers were pretty clear regarding the "no photography" policy. That was not what was announced on the loudspeakers. The announcement was prohibiting flash-photography, which makes sense. Prohibiting parents from taking ANY pictures from their little-ones' performance is just unreasonable, if not cruel. I hope there would be more clarification and education in...

Beautiful venue with great acoustics because it's on the smaller scale. We sat in the balcony to watch the Smuin Christmas Ballet (which was incredible, by the way!). We could hear the music perfectly and could still feel like we were a part of the production. Unlike larger venues where you really feel the separation from stage when you sit in the back. We will be back for more events in the future! PS. Parking gets difficult. Leave with plenty of time to find parking around the neighborhood if the parking...
