Pet Supermarket — Local services in Cary

As a budding aquarium enthusiast I really like this store. Most people wouldn't really think that a general pet store would take the cake in many ways against some aquatic stores but this one does.

Recently I have been dropping in about once every 3-4 weeks to pick up a few things and bombard them with my aquarium questions. I really appreciate how they always take time to listen to my questions, make recommendations or let me know if they are unsure instead of guessing about things as you so often find in other stores.

While I am getting the hang of keeping my fish tank hobby they have been really patient with me when one of my fish died(my fault) and got me a new one and helped me work out what went wrong. The next couple fish I have bought from here are doing well and all the live plants I have gotten from them are also thriving and look gorgeous!

They have also mentioned that they can order certain fish that I might want that they don't normally carry if their supplier has them. This is really cool because most places just have a set type of common fish and it can be a struggle to find something that makes your set up unique.

If you are an aquarium hobbyist I highly recommend you stop in here and poke around. They have a nice assortment of fish with hidden gems that you wouldn't see in the other box stores. Finally, over all, I haven't noticed much illness or disease among their fish as well. Just a few nipped fins here and there. Some things just reveal what a franchise is all about. We shop here regularly, and have earned the "1 free bag of dogfood" for buying 10 of them. What they don't tell you is that they will send you a postcard that you must bring in to get your free bag. If you lose or misplace the postcard, no freebie. Oh, and the postcard expires in a about 2 weeks, so you better use it quickly. Oh, and one more thing, you have to PAY the TAX on your free bag of dog food.

It's like, "OK, we'll give you your dang bag of dog food, but we don't really want to. You are going to have to work for it, do it just how we like you to do it, and we want a few bucks from you anyway. We can't have customers that are TOO satisfied..."

Why don't they just make it good only on leap days?

Yesterday was my first visit and I will most definitely be back! I went in specifically for the freshwater fish and I was blown away by how incredibly clean EVERY single tank was. Not a single tank was dirty. The water was clean and free of algae. I've never seen such a good variety of fish in a store that doesn't exactly specialize in fish. I was greeted by welcoming staff and was taken care of. What perplexed me most was the fact that I did not see a single fish with any sign of sickness (ich, dropsy, etc.) in any tank. I also found a good variety of decorations both natural and artificial. I would like to recommend to the store to please carry more natural decor such as driftwood and coral rocks please! I purchased every Bosemani rainbow in stock and a TON of community fish. All are happy...
