Oh honey, let’s talk about professionalism—because clearly, someone at this store missed that memo.
So there I was, just trying to buy a simple shirt for my niece, when Miss Blondie McToo-Good-for-Work decided that acknowledging customers was so last season. I politely try to get her attention—nothing. She turns and struts away like she’s on some imaginary runway.
Fine. No big deal. I’m a problem solver. I grab a step ladder (because, unlike some people, I believe in doing my job), and suddenly, boom—she’s got 20/20 vision and a full-on safety patrol badge. She swoops in with all the urgency of a fire drill to scold me about safety hazards. Oh, now she cares? Interesting.
But the grand finale? Instead of assisting, she skips over to the cashier, Danielle, and starts whispering about my massive safety violation—while I’m literally standing behind her. Ma’am, if you’re going to gossip, at least have the decency to lower your voice. Or better yet, try working. Meanwhile, I’m waiting to check out, another customer needs help, and Blondie is too busy playing Mean Girls: Retail Edition.
Of course, I had to say something. So I hit her with a little reality check: “Just so you know, I am right behind you.” The way she turned around? Priceless.
Moral of the story: If customer service isn’t your thing, maybe consider a career where ignoring people is...
