Twice now I have had a very bad experience when bringing in clothing to sell. I feel as if the store age discriminates which is very funny because most of the time I am bringing in my teenagers clothing. I brought in four bags of good quality clothing, most worn very little including jeans for instance Miss Me jeans in excellent shape and Pink sweatshirts, cute sun dresses worn once and out of four huge bags they made me an underwhelming offer on maybe four items. BUT on occasion my 15 year old daughter will bring in clothing and I will add items for her to take, in fact I have sent some pretty old jeans with her just because most of the time they take all jeans and they seem to make an offer on pretty much anything she brings in to the tune of 80-100 bucks each time on FAR less than what I bring in and on the same clothing that I tried to bring in. Now I thought about writing a review the last time this happened but decided to let it go but this time took the cake. I know the quality of the clothing I brought in and it is convenient for them to say certain items just arenât selling or they have an abundance of one thing or another but simply walking through and looking at some of the items they have on the racks quickly discredits their excuses. Also last spring I bought several pairs of swim trunks from them at a decent price but when I brought in brand new swim wear that I had bought online that had never been worn to sell they told me they donât accept swimwear?? Confusing since I had bought swimwear from same store a month earlier. Very inconsistent and who has the time or energy to waste doing this. I wonât be back. I will take my items to another consignment store in town who takes 90% of my items and sells them all as well. Their loss, but If I were them I would inform the inexperienced staff that they should remember that the âoldâ 40 something ladies that come in are usually the ones buying all the fashionable clothing for their teenage children. ...
Read moreTo start off, I love how everything is organized, especially with the color flow. I am not too pleased with the quality of clothes that are being sold. I went to try on a few things and in the fitting room, I noticed the clothes i had were damaged with logos peeling, lint buildup, tears, etc. I took a look at the bralettes and saw most of them had been worn out, lace was shriveled up, lint stuck to it, tearing, etc. I think itâs unfair to others, including myself, who bring in big brand name items, sometimes even with original tags, and get declined. Sometimes they dont even LOOK at the items. A lot of the clothes being sold are either really worn out, or from retailers like target and walmart! Another thing I was not too pleased with was the staffâs attitudes. I stood at the register for about 10 minutes waiting to be checked out as two girls stood a few feet away, sorting clothes. finally one of them saw me and shuffled her way over to me and rolled her eyes. sort of had a snobby attitude. Now, I know it can get busy at times, we all have bad days, but there was only one other customer in the store! I have worked in retail for 12 years and I can assure you, this staff is backwards! They all need some customer service training! When your customers feel unwelcomed, they dont come back! I will never buy from this...
Read moreIâm a teenage girl who shops often, so I thought my style and brands would align well with what this Platoâs Closet looks for. Unfortunately, my experience proved otherwise. I brought in 5 large TJ Maxxâsized tote bags filled with clothing from popular brands like Lululemon, Garage, Hollister, American Eagle, Aerie, Nike, and Wild Fableâmost in excellent condition, with some still having tags. All were purchased within the past 1â2 years, yet I was told they were âoutdated.â
When I dropped my items off, I was told the process would take about 30 minutes, which already seemed short given the amount of clothing and the number of customers ahead of me. To my surprise, my buy was completed in around 10-15 minutes. Several of my bags looked untouched, exactly as I had packed them. Meanwhile, I noticed items on the sales floor that seemed far less current, including homemade t-shirts and fast fashion brands like Shein.
Overall, I left feeling disappointedâboth with the selection process and the lack of care I felt my items were given. While I understand stores can be selective, the rushed evaluation and inconsistent standards were frustrating. Unfortunately, this experience has discouraged me from returning to...
