Hatchett's BBQ and Catering — Local services in Cedar Rapids

Stopped by their food truck parked on the corner of 16th Ave and Edgewood Rd Tues thru Saturday. I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon around 5 pm. The gentleman at the truck was super nice and answered all my questions. I sampled the chopped brisket and it was good with a nice bark and just a dash of their sauce which was good. I ended up getting the rib dinner which is half a rack with one side. I chose the coleslaw and added the beans. The total was $21. The ribs were smothered in sauce. The coleslaw was good with a nice vinegar taste on the back end. The beans were good with nice chunks of meat incorporated into them. Overall the ribs were good, the sauce giving them a good flavor. This is some of the better bbq in the area. The only downside is the sides are a bit on the small side for what you pay for them in my opinion. I intended to order some crummy fast food but saw there was this new place on doordash & it had Double Smoked Turkey Leg. That was enough to reel me in. Ordered the rib Rib Dinner also with baked beans & Potato Salad. Listen, I cannot even describe how amazing everything was! I'm from a big city that is known for bbq & this was some of the best I have ever had! Didn't have to doctor up the beans nor the Potato Salad like I usually do either. They were perfect! The beef link was an impressive size and had plenty of flavor. It was surprisingly spicy but it took a while for the spice to get uncomfortable. The barbecue sauce also added a tangy and sweet complement to the spicy link.

That said, there was a lot of sauce; make sure to have plenty of napkins handy. The coleslaw was all right but not spectacular. It was also a very small portion.
