If you care about your loved one, do not place them here for any long term care.The rehab staff/ therapists and previous DON were really wonderful. My mom stayed here for several months and she thrived at first because of the level of care she was receiving and the rehab staff. This place is admin heavy but cannot keep any regular nursing staff to take care of the residents. I have never seen a staff turnover like this. This place is constantly staffed by the agency so it’s always someone new and unfamiliar with what they are supposed to do. The previous DON Really cared and it made a difference in the level of care my mom received and she retained more regular staff. After that DON left, I could immediately tell the difference. The current DON could care less. We developed care plans that they regularly did not follow. My mother and the other residents were isolated in their rooms with minimal interaction with others including staff. The staff don’t converse with the residents and pretty much treat them like objects or burdens Instead of people. The scheduled “activities” are a joke and pretty much non-existent. The environment is overall drab and depressing. I tried to communicate my concerns on several occasions to admin but nothing...

Let me start by saying that I work in the healthcare field. This facility has been through multiple DONs and administrators in the past year, and due to this no one has been accountable for the medical errors, lapse in communication and poor care that my mother in-law has received while residing at the Laurels. There are wonderful nurses that work here but they are few and far between and they do not have the time or personnel to give quality care that each patient deserves. It is difficult to get a hold of anyone on nights or weekends. There is rarely a nurse available to give orders to when needed. It took over 2 weeks for a physicians office to get in touch with someone to change a medication. At another point, direct orders were given to a nurse and the medication simply wasn’t started. These are HUGE errors. All we were simply told “I am not sure what happened, we are sorry”. On a daily basis, simple orders have not been followed. She almost ended back in the hospital with leg infections because of their lack of care and oversight and ignoring direct orders from vascular medicine and treating her with orders from their in house podiatrist. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE.The nagging concern-I do believe the staff are directed to drug the residents in the Memory care facility to keep them in their rooms and " out of it" Also theft of personal property is rampant. And, as POA, No one there bother to inform me of medical decisions: I was only informed days after the fact. I begged pleaded for phone calls but never ever received them. I was lied to, avoided and ignored. My mother left their on 22 different medications! ( she entered on 1!!! ). Needless to say she is no longer there and once again only on 1 - AND in a much much better home for the elderly. I have no words for the absurdness of it all. IT'S a DISGRACE and should be closed!
