DO NOT SUPPORT and ESPECIALLY THIS ONE! Take a bike tour!! The horse I saw today was in major distress. If I saw this one, then all their horses are poorly cared for. I walked up to say hi after asking permission to pet and was granted. It was hanging its head very low and breathing 40-45/min (normal is 10-18). I started a dialogue and asked about the horse. The guy was bragging how old the horse was. I mentioned it was breathing way too fast. He replied it was put to pastor in July and August which is BS FOR THE CURRENT SITUATION!!! The horse was in DISTRESS! I called the animal support and was called back by cop (officer Ruthman) who said there was no monitoring. He said it was sad but nothing he could do. Later that night I spoke to another company who (by Anson restaurant) gave us a tour of their barn w/much healthier horses albeit very small stalls (could not stretch but clean and well-fed with salt licks and great water, baths) but the horses looked exhausted. I believed her when she said every 3 days they get 3 days off. A person spoke to us for 40 min and verified that this one company (being rated here as noted as Caroline Polo) treats horses terrible. It was way too hot and only March. Absolutely horrible. Admitted many of these horses are bought from religious group who uses in Pennsylvania. I am a medical provider and my friend is a lawyer- appalling.

Our guide, Daniel, was awesome. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. We ended up being the only two people on the tour so he showed us a few extra things. We had Pinckney as our horse. It was a great thing to do, especially at the beginning of the stay to learn where everything is. We bought tickets at the visitor center for a cheaper price. We saw rainbow row, the battery, and tons of historic buildings. Update: We had some extra time the day we were leaving and needed something to do. We ended up taking another tour with Daniel and Pinckney. We ended up on a different route with a bigger crowd but it was still great. The route we got in the lottery was more residential and more about churches. He took us around the battery even though it maybe wasn’t quite part of the tour. Still highly recommend!

Caroline and Grayman were the absolute BEST tour guides we could have asked for to take us around Charleston. Caroline was friendly, extremely knowledgeable and had the most entertaining personality that any carriage ride I imagine without her at the front feels incomplete. Grayman was a strong and reliable horse with a personality of his own, all together making an adventure so much more valuable than the mere cost of the tickets. I can't wait to go back to Charleston and ride the carriage again. It was well maintained and the horse seemed happy and well cared for. They even have a company that, when the horse pees on the street, she pushes some button and within 15 minutes someone comes to hose it off. If you know how hot Charleston can get you know why this is important!!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Carolina Polo and Carriage Company in Charleston, and I must say, it was an absolutely incredible experience! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by a friendly and professional staff who made me feel like a valued guest.

The tour provided by Carolina Polo and Carriage Company was not only entertaining but also educational. The knowledgeable guides shared fascinating stories and historical facts about Charleston, bringing the city's rich history to life. I was captivated by their passion and enthusiasm, which made the tour even more enjoyable.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the horses! The horses at Carolina Polo and Carriage Company were not only beautiful but also well-cared for. It was evident that the staff prioritized the welfare and comfort of their animals. The horses were calm, well-trained, and seemed to genuinely enjoy their role in providing a delightful carriage ride.

The carriage itself was comfortable and well-maintained, providing a smooth and enjoyable ride through the charming streets of Charleston. The tour route was carefully planned, showcasing the city's iconic landmarks and hidden gems. It was a truly immersive experience that allowed me to appreciate the beauty and history of Charleston in a unique way.

I cannot speak highly enough of my experience at Carolina Polo and Carriage Company. The friendly staff, informative tour, and well-cared-for horses all contributed to a memorable and enjoyable visit. I highly recommend Carolina Polo and Carriage Company to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience in Charleston. It's a perfect blend of history, elegance, and Southern charm. Five stars...

Thankfully we used the Groupon on this tour. We lived in the area before and have done several carriage ride tours with the other companies, but decided to try Polo this time since they had a Groupon. Well....I guess we got what we paid for. My husband and I both felt that the guide lacked severely in the amount of actual historic/relevant information he shared during the tour, was not very fluid with his stories (seemed to jump around a lot and not finish the topic he was starting to talk about before jumping to something else) and not too enthusiastic in our opinion based on our other tour experiences (though he did state he was having sinus issues at the beginning so maybe he just didn't feel great...). I know it must get boring talking about the same thing day in and day out but I felt like the other customers left with not a lot of real actual additional knowledge then what they may have already had other than a couple small things. I asked a couple questions during the tour (I already knew the answers) just to probe him to discuss some of the things we were seeing that other tour guides typically point out so that all those on the tour could get a bit more information than what I felt we were getting. And yes, my little one was having a rough time sitting still and fussing, so maybe that contributed to some of the issues, but I feel like we have had way better tours with the other companies regardless of fussy kids or not. We did too well because we figured he had to hear a 2 yo fuss but would not of if it that would not have been the case. Overall, it wasn't horrible, just not the best we have...

Do not use this company - the other carriage companies are organized . Terribly disorganized and John who tries to get customers off the street is just totally classless and unprofessional. I called the day of my ride as it was raining- I was told they were still ruing and to come down- it was the end of the day and they told me to come down- All the other carriage companies had passengers - ALL I was told we could not go unless 1 more came along - I had already pre paid so waited 45 minutes and did not go to the Provost Dungeon . Finally I was told to come the next day at 9:45... I explained it would be tight and made sure that they indeed would go . I was assured that they WOULD leave at 9:45 and others were booked . I got there at 9:45 - By 10:05 they were disorganized and had not even boarded .I was polite when I started but then this John would not tell me when we were leaving - he had told me 10 minutes since the moment I entered . Then he had the nerve to say I go there late at 9:48 - had I not been so furious I would have laughed . I blew a casket - he was TOTALLY disrespectful. Did not apologize nothing wanted to argue - I just cancelled it , got my money back and went on the carriage behind theirs . They have no respect or appreciate for the customer- they also list their closing time as 4 and the last ride is supposed to be 5 - different prices quoted to different people by John. Very unprofessional person - the office seems to reward that - in any case dont waste your time - my tour was awesome and stress free with the other...
