Visiting from California. First time in Charleston. HAD to do a Ghost Tour. Was planning on one of the other normal ghost tours, then stumbled upon this.
I went into this tour a little skeptical... just thinking it would be something fun to do, probably a little gimmicky, and IF I did see/hear anything, surely it would be staged.
Little did I know that Nick, our guide, is more of a skeptic than me! You would expect your paranormal tour guide to be a master of embellishment... drawing conclusions out of nothing and making "connections" to everything. An over-dramatic theatric, perhaps. HOWEVER, Nick is the absolute opposite. Immediately you understand that Nick is a purest. He lives and breathes the paranormal, and will be the first to debunk the data that you're capturing. He is genuinely only trying to capture LEGITIMATE paranormal activity, and is using you to help him. So yeah, it's actually VERY COOL and EXCITING haha.
The equipment and methods used are very cool. There were a few things that happened to me that were very paranormal and it was pretty thrilling to be a part of.
The best part of it all, was at the end of the night, Nick said he'd define our tour, from a paranormal data capture perspective, as relatively unsuccessful. A few really cool things happened that were a success, but overall... unsuccessful. Haha. That's amazing! Because it was so fun! And wasn't even as successful as some of his other tours. And if you wanted people to leave all hyped so they'd leave you great reviews... you'd think Nick would end by saying how amazing everything was, and how lucky we were (because our group was pretty stoked on the night)... but nope. Again, Nick is a purest. And is only after actual paranormal data.
There wasn't as much walking as I thought there'd be. Nick incorporated a lot of cool history and stories. Our session was 2:40 long. It honestly felt like less than an hour. I didn't want it to end. One of the other tour guides walked by, and made a comment about all our equipment and said "that's so cool, you guys are awesome. I'm jealous..." lol
All in all, was a great night. My wife and I had a great time. If you're debating which of all the ghost tours in Charleston to do, do this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo much fun! It was my big 3-0 birthday and I've always wanted to do a ghost hunting tour. Once I found Stories In The Cemetery I knew I had to go! We drove from Atlanta to Charleston specifically for this tour and it did not disappoint!
I am a believer in everything paranormal, but my boyfriend is 1000% a skeptic. So I knew it would be tricky. When we walked up I couldn't contain my excitement! My boyfriend was trying to be a good sport, but before the tour started I could almost hear his eye rolling.
However, Nick has incredible patience and ability to work with all different mindsets. He took the time to listen to everyone's beliefs, judgement free. I was very impressed with his decisions on who received each piece of ghost hunting equipment, they are all unique, so he gives you what he feels would give each individual the best experience possible. I was given a Spirit Box and my partner was given a SLS camera.
Nick does a great job in making it more than just ghost hunting. He's a talented story teller and historian. Make sure to let him know whenever you see, hear, or feel something. He's so well versed in everything Charleston so based on what you experience, he can tell you if it's relevant or not. For example, I heard a year come through and apparently it was an important date for what happened exactly where we were standing!
He's also unafraid to tell you if it doesn't mean anything. He's not in the business of dramatizing or misleading anyone. He's no Zak Bagans. Nick wants the actual proof.
If you read nothing else from my review, read this:
My boyfriend, the skeptic, still doesn't believe in ghosts. However, we were in Charleston for 3 days and he says Stories In The Cemetery was by far his favorite thing that we did! He had a great time especially because it was so unique, interactive, and informative.
It was an incredible birthday gift and we will be back. I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review is actually from Kerri and Alex Morgan. We did the investigation Wed., May 24, 2023.
Wow! There arenāt enough positive words to describe this experience. Nick is funny, observant, patient and very knowledgeable about the history of Charleston.
Upon arriving, Nick took the time to get to know us for a moment so he could try to determine what equipment to give each of us. I would have to say he was pretty spot on with this assessment. He gave us time to get familiar with what we were doing and we were off to our first destination. The areas Nick chose to have us investigate are areas he knows to be active and it did not disappoint.
I have been interested in the paranormal my whole life and have been on several historic/ghost tours throughout the United States. This is NOT a ghost tour. Iāve never had an experience quite like this one. Each of us had a collective and individual experience using the investigative tools while learning the history of the area. I would highly recommend this activity for anyone who has interest in such thingsā¦from skeptic to believer. My husband was the skeptic of the group and he was the one who actually captured some amazing evidence. He is no longer a skeptic. He wouldnāt have had this change of heart without Nickās guidance and tools.
We canāt wait to come back and do it again! We had an above average night with activity and canāt wait to more closely review all the data that was taken (a major perk from this experience). Nick could charge a much higher amount and it would be worth every penny. For example, we were out for over three hours and have a wealth of data to keep and show our friends and family. A 40 minute āghostā carriage ride in Charleston is $50 per person. Take this trip into the weird and unexplained. Itās a steal compared to what else is offered! Thanks Nick! We will see you...
