Island Plaza — Local services in Charleston

Dined at the new restaurant James on James Island and it was a different experience from what I was expecting. James has taken over the foundation where Screen Door used to be, before it had sadly shut down. It certainly has created a different atmosphere which attracts what seems to be a more uniform crowd. Though the food certainly surprised me. I had gone during brunch hour, and ordered the Waffle and Duck and it certainly surprised me for a $17.00 menu item. The waffle was nice and crispy with just enough softness on the inside to be enjoyable, and the star of the meal, the duck, was fantastic! In honesty this is the first time I had duck, so I don't know what it is supposed to taste like or how it is supposed to be prepared. This is a shopping center that has Food Lion, Dollar Tree, Tuesday Mornings, Gold's gym, Boot camp gym, Nails So Dep, China Wall, etc. To my knowledge there are a couple of storefronts that are empty (Napa Auto Parts is closed). There is Forsberg liquor store, Mexican and Familia's restaurants, and a hair salon. A Shopping Center that has just about anything you may want or need. There is also a bank in this shopping center. Food Lion, James Island is my go to supermarket for my grocery needs. Their meats are always fresh and available. You cannot find the types of meats at other grocers in the area. I even like the way they are cut, package and display.

For the myriad of other products you may need, I don't know anything you can't find at Food Lion. Along with that, the shelves are well stocked and the store is very clean. Customers are treated very well.
