Great Wall — Restaurant in Charleston

Time and time again we come back to Great Wall. My wife and I love the food, and the service is great. Once, there was a misunderstanding on the order, and the folks at Great Wall offered us the correct item free the next time we visited their location. Because we were bummed about the misunderstanding, it took us almost a year to take them up on it. That said, when I called a year later, I was afraid that they would have forgotten or declined to honor the previous offer, but these folks REMEMBERED. We have been loyal customers ever since. This is as good as any Chinese place around here. Looks like a family operation and they are almost always busy which is a good sign. I think the dinner combination plates which come with entree, fried rice and egg roll are the best value. This is typical takeout Chinese so don’t expect fine dining or anything. It’s just solid, always hot and fresh to order, Chinese food. My go to favorites are the wonton egg drop soup (best in Charleston) and the chicken lo mein. These are always hot and fresh. First off I must say, I very rarely write poor reviews. Our favorite Chinese restaurant pan garden (Folly road) was closed so we decided to try this place, I was very disappointed. We ordered the sesame chicken and cream cheese wontons. The sauce was “different” more like Apple sauce then traditional sesame, the chicken was hard and overly cooked and breaded. The cream cheese wontons were very oniony, over fried, and had hardly any stuffing in them. They had great reviews, so maybe just try something else...
