Peaches Fruit & Produce — Local services in Charlestown

When my husband and I bought a little getaway house in RI near Peaches, I was so happy that there was a little market that we could walk to for produce, bakery items, cheese/crackers, etc., but I was a little trepidatious because I read several reviews saying the proprietors were rude. DO NOT LISTEN to those people. I do not know what agenda they have, but from the very first time we went into their store, the couple who run it were delightful, welcoming, accommodating, and very pleasant. When we bought a locally baked bread that turned out to have mold on it but couldn't return it for several weeks since we don't live in RI full time, they never hesitated to trust our word and replace the product... with a smile on their faces. Just moved to the area and this was my first time popping into Peaches - The selection looked really good but i won’t be returning because of how the lady behind the counter treated me. I asked if the pies and pastries were homemade/made by Peaches and she said “why what are you a baker?”and then proceeded to give me attitude about how Dunkin got shut down once for bacteria in the water, avoided giving me an answer , and made me feel very uncomfortable for asking my question. She even said “why are you asking so many questions”. As someone who grew up working in a family business(a family restaurant), I simply wanted to know if the baked goods were made in house or locally sourced. Extremely rude woman running this small, over priced fruit stand! The clerk stated that there was a policy of credit cards charge over $10, my sale was $9 and I stated that I did not have cash today. She rudely stated "buy something else then!" I would have purchased tomatoes but refused to pay $3.99 a pound in the middle of summer. I am a local consumer and she was very rude and condescending to me! She also was making rude comments about other local businesses! As a small business owner in a tourist town she should support other local businesses! Her pies are rubbery and not homemade as she insists and markets!
