The hostess/waitstaff is very friendly and location is convienent. The mosquitoes/gnats nibbled us pretty good in the outdoor seating area. There were citronella candles on every table too, but for some reason they were not lit- so we lit ours ourselves and seemed to help. just wished they were already on and save us a few bites so we weren't scratching away all dinner. The inside looks a little dated.
The food is pretty good. I ate here twice- the lobster roll which I got "to go" was the best lobster roll I've ever had. Even getting it to go, the presentation was very impressive. The downside was waiting almost an hour to get two lobster rolls and a salad. We were waiting in the restaurant (as oppose to calling it in) so it would have been nice to push our order through just a little quicker, but they were busy so I do understand why it took so long. The second time I ate here I had the fish tacos, which were awesome & so flavorful, but the "rice& bean" side was just plain white rice and black beans with no flavor or seasoning at all. My boyfriend got the ny strip which he thought was good.
The best part was the massive organic sangria pitcher filled with lots of fruit for $20. It was well worth it and very refreshing.
We will be eating here a lot since we just moved to the area. Looking forward to trying more of...
Read moreGood local spot for excellent burgers, wings and some fish dishes. Summer season it's really packed, but off season it's a gem of a place where all the locals go. Highly recommend
Update - so I recently went to have a late lunch, and what a sad lunch it was! They recently updated the interior and changed the menu as well. The new menu sounds good, but it really isn't. I had the brisket sandwich and for 23.00 you would think it was a flavorful sandwich, but it lacks flavor, imagination and just shows that they really are sliding big time. The brisket was dry, lacked any seasoning and topped with and equally dull coleslaw. Oh and the fries! Think McDonald's and you are on the right track, except McDonald's actually has a flavor. They have a new cook (I will not call them a chef) and the food has really taken a nose dive. The wings? Sad, small and over cooked and dry of you can imagine that. Oh and the new "smash" burgers... TASTELESS gray meat.
As a regular and local I will not be coming back nor will I continue to recommend them to out of town guests. So sad, we don't have many places to eat in Charlestown as it is, and this place was at one time fantastic. Save your money, the prices are much higher which if the food was good I wouldn't mind but not for...
Read moreWell to start off when we walked in the place had people sitting at the bar and only 2 people in the restaurant. Ok its winter so its slow I get that. Well I ordered a grinder and fries at 415 in the afternoon and the waitress tells me they don't serve grinders after 4 pm. I was like why would it matter if I order a grinder at 415. She says I don't know its the rules so get a burger instead. If you want tell my boss. I said I will. No one came over at all. It makes no sense to me other then that they are trying to up charge as a burger is $16 vs 11. A grinder is easier to make then a burger so shouldn't be an issue. Mind you the menu is bar food and apps. I few dinner plates. Nothing special. So anyways I order a burger med-rare and super well done fries (crispy). Well they messed up both. My burger was med-well and my fries were practically raw. My wife ordered a bloody Mary drink which sucked. It was like drinking tomato soup out of a can. To eat she ordered the fish tacos baja style. Those were the only thing that was good at this joint. Fried fish hard to screw it up. No I will not be going back. If they can't cook the food properly when we are the only table in there eating then there is an issue and I would not be going...
