If you are into Books-A-Million or nerd culture then you will love this place. If you are mainly for the books I'm not so sure. For used books they are rather expensive. There are used books that are being sold for $10 and $11. Still better than a $30 new book but not comparable to other used book stores, library book sales, thrift stores or Amazon. Even the used books being sold inside BAM (which should be the same thing) were cheaper unless that has just been luck.
The trade-in was not a good experience. Out of a whole bag full of books received only $4 in store credit, with many of the books not being taken. I was, however, told why they weren't accepted without my prompting but was admittedly very tired that day and didn't make out what was said. My impression is they scan the books like sellers do at book sales and check their alleged worth. As someone who used to go to library book sales often, a lot of really good books get missed that way because I would buy whatever the grabbing and scanning sellers would leave behind and they would be quality, even academic, books. For trading in for store credit I would go to Book Buyers first before trying here. $20 credit and all books taken versus $4 and only a couple taken.
A couple positives is that you can find some interesting books, and they have deals--husband was able to get a free fiction book after purchasing two. But the World History section is small compared to all other sections and that's all I really shop for.
Was not a fan of their CD selection but the store is probably heavily shopped and the good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI usually go to Manifest (down the street on South Blvd - ask for Joe) to sell or trade vinyl, games and DVD/Blu Ray. I decided to give this store a shot first today. While the guy looked at my items, I looked around. Great varied vinyl selection, but trading in items is a waste of time. The offer they gave for my 30+ Blu ray and 20 records (most were newer releases not scratched old records) was 50 in trade. Some were 5 disc sets, and some were less than a year old and bought at 50 dollars. It truly is pennies on the dollar, and it's no better than taking your stuff to a pawn shop, where at the pawn shop they deal in quantity (not desirability, or anything else). I will go back as a cash customer to purchase things, but probably will not take any high dollar value things to this store for trade or for cash. The guy who got 300 for DVDs he traded in, wow. All I can say that if that's true, he must have had stuff he had just bought or were really recent TV show multi-disc seasons, or he had other types of things he traded, because the prevailing sentiment is they are super cheap when buying things from you. That's my personal experience. Expect to be underwhelmed if you take items in there to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really miss places like Media Play, really the only reason I began venturing to South Boulevard when I was younger. While I realize Iām pining for a by-gone era, this place is always refreshing to visit. There are few options for places to trade-in entertainment items anymore, and while you are not going to become a millionaire doing it, at least the option is there. They make it pretty painless, and usually have an offer ready for a large box full within 30 minutes or less (assuming I donāt come at 3 PM on a Saturday).
Apart from trade-ins, 2&C is known for a wide selection of games, music, books and movies, and lots of FYE type chat-skiās from your favorite entertainment franchises. Youāre bound to find something here if itās your first time.
I knocked one star off because sometimes finding a new release isnāt as easy as it should be, as they do not stock all the new releases as well as a Target or Walmart might. Also, finding a specific item like a popular book can be challenging, because it isnāt always clear where to look if it doesnāt fit into a very narrow margin of genre. But being able to use store credit when you do find...
