WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT!!!!!
Been attending this festival for years, to the point that it was the highlight of my yearly events to come and enjoy the amazing food.
Stopped going two years ago because I noticed how so many things changed in terms of quality and how it no longer felt like a community festival.
I just came back from the event and it was HORRIBLE. The food is no longer fresh or authentic. It all tastes like is been commercially made. The dolmades were disgusting where the rice was hard inside and they were just sour. The spanikopita and the tiropita are smaller every year and three times the price for something that I can get at a Costco with more flavor. To give you an idea: Three Gyros, two fries and three spanikopita and tiropita were $70. Two baklava sundae and two coffee drinks were $32.
The dessert tables are now all pre-made and triple the price. I mean $12 for four cookies that no longer taste homemade? Come on...
They realized that people will accept mediocre food for the novelties that it is and turned this event into cash cow.
The tents did not have fans. The only ones that had fans were the pastry tables and it was to keep bees away, not even to cool off the volunteers. Speaking of volunteers; it would help if they knew what they were selling. People had to repeat themselves 5 or 6 times to order anything because they couldn't understand the names of some items or just didn't know the system. I could've sworn that the two people preparing the Frappes were going to fight each other because they both wanted to make the coffee at the same time with only one water dispenser.
What a absolute shame. I used to swear by Charlotte's Greek festival, and would bet on it against any other nationwide. Now I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.
Like everything that has success, it's always spoiled by greed and...
Read moreWe have been going to this festival for the past twenty years. We always enjoyed the food, music, and the cultural experience. Tonight was a much different experience, unfortunately. The Greek salad was delicious, as always. The spanakopita was the size of a mini kid’s meal portion in a bag that’s triple the size. The price and the size don’t match. Very disappointing! It seemed as though the focus of the vendors was jewelry. Another disappointment. The worst part was the desserts. We’ve always purchased the baklava to take home. This year, it’s even more money for four small pieces. Respectfully, planners of this festival, please consider focusing on the experience for the people and not greed. Greed pushes people away whereas hospitality welcomes them. Oh, and one more thing, why did the price for admission go up and the quality of the event go down. Greek festival more like...
Read moreShopping was the most prominent feature Some vendors listed prices visibly others no clue what the asking prices were -luxury novelties with only a few cheap trinkets for children. I wished the vendors all had business cards on them so if you thought you liked something and forgot to come back for it, you could find it later. Overall l, the website stated that you had to pay only $5/person cover so I wouldn't say that's a valid complaint about the festival. My mom and I went for the first time and we both would like to go again in the future. But please sponsors more free food-small portions you could offer guests a choice basic entry (admission but you choose what else you buy) vs limited entry (1 ticket only experience this or that) vs VIP (all inclusive). Great...
