this place was such a cool experience!! ambience is amazing. staff is great. we ordered the chicken and salmon off the “modern” side of the menu and it was FANTASTIC.
Revised my original review after my second experience here. I work in customer service and I know how insane and unreasonable people can be so I don’t leave bad reviews and only like to praise a place for the good experience but this was the worst service and food experience i’ve ever had and was bullied while dining here. I was physically uncomfortable being here we had to cut dinner short and leave. Here’s where it started. I asked the host to be moved to a different table near the bar which she did, but when she explained it to the bartender the bartender looked over at us and made the most disgusted face and said loud enough for us to hear “why are they here??” it wasn’t subtle and we were immediately uncomfortable. We order food. My boyfriend accidentally says the wrong thing and he goes wait can I get this instead please and the bartender made a face at him!!! what the heck? Like she made him feel bad for slipping up on his words? It’s offensive. Please don’t treat people like this. We wait for our food and nobody is refilling our drinks or checking on us. Naan and rice get dropped off at our table. We didn’t order naan but last time we dined here our waiter asked if we wanted complimentary bread for the table so we assumed it was ours. I grabbed some bread that was put in front of me and was SCOLDED by the bartender! She yelled across the room “NO, that’s not yours!!” what?!? is there not a more diplomatic way to handle that situation? it was embarrassing. you don’t make a mistake then yell at your customers. it’s an absolutely unacceptable way to deal with people. the guy came over and took the food out of my hand and away from our table and I hope they didn’t give it to someone else because I touched it. at this point we were pretty upset and shocked at the experience thus far. we stay. food comes to the table and we try to order some naan 1/2 garlic 1/2 regular which I guess they don’t do which is fine but while we were talking with our waiter the bartender yet again yells across the room at us AGAIN and says “They don’t do that” in an attitude making a face at us. Excuse me?? No etiquette at all. We try the food and make that mutual well sh*t eye contact that the food was not as good as it was last time. The only taste was of charcoal. Overcooked duck and chicken undercooked veggies. :( Look I know it seems like I’m trying to complain about everything I can pick at but genuinely from the bottom of my heart the service and food was that bad. My first experience here was great. We ask for the check and try to get out of there as quickly as possible after about two bites. $75 check before tip for that experience. We left a tip after all that because this woman still has bills to pay and needs to eat but I can’t say I recommend going to this restaurant or spending money here when they treat people like this. I get treated badly all day by strangers while I’m working and it was so mentally draining to have had this experience while being a customer and spending my money. If management reads this please talk to your bartender about her brash attitude, etiquette, and how she treats people. Service should be on par...
Read moreIn Charlotte for a day (Oct.10.2024, Order#9281, Table-Polo35, Sit-down dinner) I and my wife picked what looked to be a well-reviewed and highly rated Indian restaurant located just a few miles from our hotel Our dining experience was less than stellar - in fact, far less.
The Disco Bhatura was simply dough stuffed with Mozzarella cheese and some spices and deep fried - there was nothing culinary to it. It was cheesy, gooey and messy. I guess the restaurant is counting on people likening it to fried mozzarella sticks, but it was no fun to eat this high calorie mess.
The Slow Cooked Lamb (Dheemi Aanch Ka Gosht) had imbalance of spices (rawness of onions in the curry, which is absent if one cooks onion paste a little longer) and the boneless lamb pieces were chewy and stringy (likely because they used older(lamb older by age, as opposed to young lamb) lamb meat which also had been frozen before). Good lamb dish is not supposed to be stringy/fibrous/chewy).
The third dish was Konkani Vegetables in curry form. My wife is from the Konkan region of India and grew up eating Konkani foods! I cook many lovely Konkani dishes myself at home.
There was nothing Konkani about this dish. It was light yellow colored curry which looked like it was thickened with cornstarch and cream, and the biggest travesty was it had unpeeled potatoes in the curry. If you add fresh cream to any dish in the Konkan region, people will boycott the place in outrage. Secondly, no Indian restaurant worth its salt will serve unpeeled potatoes in a curry form, which is what we also found in the curry. Doing that shows to us that whoever did the cooking of this dish has not taken time to learn about Indian cuisine in general and Konkani cuisine specifically!
The only saving grace of this evening was a garlic naan which is ubiquitous in Indian restaurants, but it was done very well and tasted good! The server was courteous, responsive and attentive as well.
We could not finish the food we had ordered, but we decided not to continue our suffering by bringing any leftovers back to the hotel, so we decided not to.
Do yourself a favor - looks elsewhere if you are looking for an authentic Indian...
Read moreWe chose to dine at Copper for my wife’s birthday after months of talking about the restaurant. We arrived a little earlier than our reservation time and the hostess was able to find a seat for us very quickly. We sat in the middle of what appeared to be the sunroom (three wall glass area) of the house/restaurant. Unfortunately the lighting was sparse and I found myself repositioning my head in order to read the menu. Looking around a saw another couple using their cell phone for lighting.
We were greeted shortly after being seated, the waiter poured our waters and took our drink order shortly after. We started off with the two appetizers which were delicious. By this time we had placed our main entree with the sever and were patiently waiting. We decided to try the “modern” dishes and our server immediately mentioned how there was “No gravy” in the dishes we ordered and the he recommended ordering Tikka Masala gravy for an additional $7. We declined. The entrees took a bit longer than expected and were brought out by another food runner. This is where the night took a turn, our food had arrived luke-warm to practical cold. I ordered the Lamb Chops and my wife ordered the Black Sesame Chicken Tikka (both modern dishes).
We had also placed two new cocktail orders which took some time to arrive. Our server eventually came around to ask how the meal was and I mentioned that the taste was great however both dishes arrived cold. He quickly brought over the manager and the manager offered to bring out another plate of side vegetables. Why not offer to remake the entire dish? We declined the additional side vegetables and continued with the meal.
At the end of the night the server implied “the possible reason for the cold food was due to the plating process and how it may have been delayed.” there was no offer for a slight reduction in bill or an invitation from the management for my wife and I come back and allow Copper to exceed our expectations.
An...
