We came to celebrate my in-laws 50th anniversary on Saturday night. Unfortunately right after we’d ordered we were notified the kitchen had lost power - meaning no hot food. It also meant no AC. We chose to stick around and enjoy our drinks and raw bar items, making the best of the situation and enjoying a special night as a family. After about an hour we decided to head out to try and finish our dinner elsewhere but then the power came back and we ended up finishing our meal. I completely understand how difficult a situation this put the restaurant in, especially on a prime Saturday night, but the response from staff was very uneven and ultimately had a big impact on our experience. Outside of the power outage, I’d say our experience dining at Leluia Hall was good not great, which makes it tough to recommend as a place to splurge when there are simply many other better high-end restaurants in Charlotte.
Pros: The space: The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, which is not a surprise considering how gorgeous the Supperland building is. Thought went into every aspect of design in the restaurant and it shows. I think the bar is a particular show-stopper.
Waitstaff: The waitstaff, especially our server Drew, were wonderful. Incredibly accommodating, personable, and friendly. They rolled with the disruption to service and helped turn a challenging moment into an experience we were all going through together. One was even fanning a member of our party with a menu while the AC was out. Cannot speak highly enough about them.
Food: The food was very good, rising to excellent at times. There were no misfires from the kitchen and the sea bass entry plus the bread pudding special and tuna and watermelon special were particular standouts.
Cons: Value: The food was good but not great enough to justify the price tag, especially when one considers the portion sizes. Our waiter mentioned multiple times that they encourage guests to take a family style approach yet all the dishes, from appetizers to entries to sides, are portioned for single diners. Leluia Hall is calling itself a steakhouse and it is priced like one but the quantity or quality one gets a high-end steakhouse isn’t there. For example a fried mushroom side had three mushrooms on it while the creamed onions came with 6 small cipollini onions; a far cry from the heaping sides you’d get at a traditional steakhouse like Steak 48, a place I have never managed to leave without a doggie bag in hand.
Management: As mentioned the kitchen power went out right at the start of our meal, meaning no hot food or AC. While our waiter stopped by multiple times to check on us and give us status updates, it was roughly half an hour before the manager Michael, sans jacket by now due to the rising temperatures in the building, made his way to our table. Rather than checking in with us to see how we were doing or starting with an apology, he led off by making sure we understood that they “were losing a ton of money tonight” before throwing in that the situation wasn’t ideal for us either. We never saw him again that evening. No apologies or thank you for sticking around through the ordeal and continuing to order drinks and raw bar items until we were able to order our full meal, a lack of attention and care that is particularly notable since we were one of the only tables in the otherwise empty restaurant making them any money that evening. It made it clear that to management, the guests aren’t individuals to pay attention to but just a number for the bottom line, a level of service that is disqualifying at the price point and luxury level Leluia Hall is purportedly aiming for.
Conclusion: Leluia Hall is a beautiful space and pretty good restaurant. However when one considers the wealth of high-end steakhouses and restaurants in Charlotte there are simply better places to splurge on a great and memorable meal where you’ll get consistently exceptional food and a managerial staff that cares about their customers in a way that...
Read moreFrom the moment you step into LeLuia Hall, the sister restaurant to the acclaimed Supperland, you know you're in for something special. This stunning venue, housed in a beautifully converted old church, creates an atmosphere that's both reverent and celebratory – the perfect backdrop for what turned out to be one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in Charlotte.
Our work dinner party of six decided to go all out, and LeLuia Hall delivered on every single dish. We started with their exceptional oyster selection – the black magic and pink moon varieties were both pristine and expertly shucked. The lobster tacos and wagyu ribeye tacos set the bar impossibly high early in the meal, with each bite delivering layers of flavor and perfectly balanced textures.
The sea bass ceviche was a masterclass in freshness and acidity, while the sea bean caesar stood out as something truly unique – a creative twist on the classic that somehow felt both familiar and completely original. The stracciatella was absolutely divine, creamy and rich in all the right ways.
For our main courses, the prime ribeye au poivre was cooked to perfection with a beautifully balanced peppercorn sauce, and the saffron honey chicken offered an intriguing sweet-savory profile that had everyone at the table talking. The whole fish special (perfectly executed) and lobster Thermidor showcased the kitchen's technical skills and commitment to quality ingredients.
But it wasn't just the proteins that impressed – the sides were equally thoughtful. The potato and roe dish was wonderfully unique, offering unexpected textural contrasts, while the Brussels almondine and crispy aged rice rounded out the meal with sophisticated vegetable preparations that could stand on their own.
Dessert was where LeLuia Hall truly sealed the deal. The fudge cake was absolutely to die for – rich, decadent, and the perfect ending to an incredible meal. The island cake provided a lighter, more tropical finish that left us all completely satisfied yet already planning our return visit.
The service throughout the evening was attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere in that gorgeous converted church space created an energy that was both intimate and grand. It's clear that LeLuia Hall has inherited Supperland's commitment to excellence while carving out its own unique identity.
This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte now, and I'll absolutely be back. Whether for another work celebration or a special personal occasion, LeLuia Hall has earned a permanent spot on my must-visit list.
Highly recommended for: Special occasions, work dinners, date nights, anyone looking for creative, high-quality cuisine in a stunning atmosphere.
Don't miss: The lobster, sea bean caesar, and really, just order as much as you can handle – everything is...
Read moreMy partner and I came to Charlotte for a weekend getaway and we were excited to dine at Leluia Hall. We had previously dined at Supperland and loved the atmosphere and service there. We scheduled a reservation for 4:30pm given that we were to attend a show at 7pm Uptown and wanted to take into consideration traffic from the soccer match that was happening at the same time. We were glad that we did that because we didn't leave from our dining experience until 6:30pm.
The dining experience was impeccable! From upon entry of Leluia Hall we were greeted by a host at the door to usher us in. Once at the hostess booth, we were then escorted to our table. When we arrived there was one other couple dining, but by the time we left, the restaurant was completely booked. Our waiter asked if we had any allergies and I indicated that I had a shrimp and bleu cheese allergy. The waiter notated this and proceeded to explain the restaurant's concept and menu. We ordered cocktails (Manhattan for him and the 4R Negroni for me, btw, the 4R Negroni was fabulous!) and appetizers (Hawaiian Rolls and the Oysters Oaxacofeller) and were given ample time to just enjoy and take in the scenery. The restaurant still holds some charm from being an old church and the decor was just gorgeous. As we dined on appetizers, we were informed that one of the dishes (the oysters) needed to be remade as there was possible cross contamination with one of my allergies. We waited a little bit for a new appetizer to return and it was well worth the wait! My partner and I ordered dinner shortly afterwards (him - the Sugar Steak Prime Filet and Brussel Sprouts while I dined on the Potato and Roe side to finish eating with my Oysters appetizer). We passed on getting dessert, but were gifted a complimentary slice of cheesecake which we enjoyed when we returned to our hotel room later that evening.
Overall, the experience at Leluia Hall was totally worth it and we hope to dine there in the...
