Run, don't walk. I will be taking legal action against Cityfront Place for their discriminatory and predatory conduct. My move out experience was horrendous and unjust. The final move out assessment was a nightmare. Shawn Davis, Assistant Business Manager, charged me over $1500 for what can be considered normal wear and tear. I lived at Cityfront Place for over 3 years, yet I was charged for every single minor wear and tear. EVERY ONE! I was told that post move-out, I would need to leave the unit in a pristine condition. Due to the amount of traffic by the movers, the unit was in less than move-in ready condition. Shawn convinced me to hire a third-party clean up crew so I wouldn't be charge a clean up fee. I did. I paid over $450 for a deep clean of the unit so that it would be left in amazing condition. Pictures were taken and the unit was left in pristine condition. STILL, Shawn told me to still expect a move out ledger of all the "property damage" expenses - stuff like minor candle soot that can easily be wiped away or repainted, I was charged $315. I was also charged $450 for a small chip to the bathroom counter that could of easily been cosmetically repaired with puddy for under $30. Cityfront is out to financially cripple its people of color tenants. I was told that I didn't pay, this would be going on my credit. I was also told that Cityfront Place hires expensive contractors and upscale vendors, so for the damage, I would be paying a higher rate since they order their supplies and material from preferred manufacturers. After being laid off back in last year, I underwent a major financial crisis. The property manager was made aware of this, and Shawn went out of his way to further financially cripple me. I will be consulting with a tenants rights attorney and moving forward on fighting this. I just want to warn future tenants, especially tenants of color to beware of Shawn Davis' predatory and discriminatory practices. Attached is the $350 candle smoke to ceiling I was charged for. Other charges where in the hundreds, just like this. Minor. I need to know if Shawn made his other tenants with minor wear and tear damage pay this rate. Small chip bathroom countertop, $450 (can be easily repaired with cosmetic puddy as accessed by a consultant who was a landlord comrade of mine, under $30), among all other charges, Cityfront Place set out to r a p e me. I overpaid on June's rent and Shawn Davis hoarded my money. He said that he couldn't just cut an overpaid check and that after my move out, which was June 29, I would have to wait until July 5 to receive a check. I contacted him several times via email on the 5th and after and he never responded. Three weeks later, he sends me an invoice of damage. Never even mentioning the money he held and not saying when he...
Read moreBeautiful location. Lived here 2 years and am only leaving due to a job transfer outside of the state. The leasing office is a pleasure to work with and are very accommodating to your needs but, by far the best employees working at cityfront are the front door staff (Lo Sims) and Worker JC (or as we called him "Mustang Joe) and Frank. Three of the kindest people I have ever met which made my experience at cityfront all that more enjoyable, i am really going to miss them! It goes without saying that you will get out of this building what you put into it. My unit did get plenty warm in the winter time which prevented me from ever turning the heat on (which is a money saver) and the A/C works great in the summer time. Trash removal is always dealt with in a prompt fashion, most other residents where kind and considerate of others. Understand that if you have a bug problem it is mostly on you. Bugs in buildings like these only arrive if you give them a reason to, so, keep your apartment clean and you won't have a thing to worry about (i didnt). The only downside I would say is the laundry room.. it can become a zoo at times and I did have a laundry basket of mine stolen last year so please keep an eye on everything you own and don't leave your personals on the 8th floor unattended (common sense). Having cityfront be my last living experience in Chicago made my time there all that more special and I thank everyone there for everything they did to make my stay as enjoyable as possible.
I do need to add to watch out for them trying to tack on fees after you leave. They tried having us pay the electric bill while it sat a week before the next tenant moved in.. they did fix the error and I didn’t have to pay so if you run into this problem make sure you address it and do...
Read moreAlex the manager is a scam artist. I lost my job during Covid as a pediatric healthcare worker and as she broke into my apartment while I was in there and proceeded to continue to harass me I vacated at their request after again a maintenance man broke into my apartment too. I vacated despite my human rights as they were making me very uncomfortable. I cleared my apartment of all that I could- all that was left was the tv and bed and dresser in which they were to remove as they harassed me out. Well.. turns out Alex thinks she owns her tenants and illegally extend my lease- have proof still in the email she even lied and said I talked to her and I was already living in Orange County, CA. She then claimed I lived there from may-nov 2023 and charged me.. and now I am back in Chicago can’t find an apartment as she has this on my credit— call today after trying to get her to do her job and correct her fraud she leaves me no choice but to write this review and seek criminal action against her for fraud and identity theft. All I was asking was to remove your illegal nonsense.. we are in America.. be careful of dealing with idiots in this country they will ruin your life with a smile on their face. So disturbing people like you THINK they can get away with this.. previous management would...
