The apartments I lived in were great, with amazing views and a good size. However, the building management was terrible. They didn’t respect tenants' concerns, claiming they primarily addressed owners' issues, yet they didn’t even provide a good experience for them. In my unit, there were leaks that I reported to the owner. Maintenance was called, but they kept insisting it wasn’t a serious problem without thoroughly inspecting it. A few months later, the entire floor had to be replaced as water had seeped underneath.
Moving in was a terrible experience as well. There was no flexibility with timing when certain issues arose that were beyond my control, and I had a bad encounter with the front door staff. That was my first and last interaction bad experience with them. On a positive note, they were welcoming overall, especially Alex (hopefully, I have the right name), who was extremely welcoming and helpful.
After relocating from Chicago, things only got worse with the realtor handling the property on behalf of the landlord. The policy against subletting was frustrating, and the landlord even wanted me to pay extra rent for the realtor to list the property. The realtor initially set the rent higher than what was reasonable for the neighborhood, received little interest, and only reduced the price after a month. Ultimately, I had to pay two months' rent plus a fee to the realtor, even though I only had four months left on my lease. The policies were ridiculous, and the management was completely...
Read moreI've lived here as a renter within different units for nearly a decade - it's too bad I don't own by now. The front desk staff is great, management is professional. Never experienced any issues with bugs or rodents. Except that my balcony facing the lake does tend to get spiders in the summer (it's fine, I just don't go out there that much - and can still leave the door open since it has a screen).
This is a fairly quiet building itself with a mix of older retirees and young professionals with babies. Now I'm in a 1 bedroom near-corner unit facing the street (McClurg and Illinois). You do hear street noise in the bedroom, especially during summertime Navy Pier fireworks or other special events where crowds pass by Illinois. But, it's worth it since I also have a view of Navy Pier fireworks from my unit and a huge amount of natural light comes in from that direction.
It also includes a cable/internet package- you only pay electricity which for my unit stays within $30-40 even with summer AC on. Ask about electricity in other Streeterville buildings - some are insanely high at $100 for 1-bedrooms - I have no idea why there is such a huge discrepancy! Overall I would highly recommend...
Read moreWe've had an apartment showing at 440 N McClurg Ct. for unit 806-S and thanks to Stella Tahrilova, the experience was terrible! We were really looking forward to seeing this apartment but she ruined the whole thing. Stella Tahrilova was our touring agent for this unit. Her tone and impressions were very unprofessional and bad-tempered. She was in such a rush that she didn't basically allow us to ask questions and see anything. We only had 2 minutes to see the whole apartment and she was constantly shouting and complaining that you are so slow!! I don't have time!! And when we asked her a question, she started shouting with a super insulting tone. Maybe it took around 4 minutes for us to see the whole unit! Because of such a terrible experience, I am not considering this place anymore. I hope the landlord of unit 806-S sees this comment and considers more professional and well-mannered people for...
