I Stopped By This Place For The First Time Today, And The Service Was Extremely Poor. My First Order Was A Side Order Of Hashbrowns, And My Second Order Was For A Chai Latte 12oz. After 15 Minutes Of Waiting For My Chai Latte, And Observing Other Customers Who Orders Were Placed After Mine, I Approached The Cashier, And Politely Asked About My Chai Latte, And it Was At That Moment Things Went Left. I Was Interrogated By One Of The Girls About Whether Or Not I Had Actually Ordered A Chai Latte, Did I Pay For The Order With A Credit Card, What Size Drink Did I Order And So On…..I Pointed To The Lady That Had Taken My Order (Virginia) And Finally, I Guess, I Was Vindicated From Being A Chai Latte Thief!!🙄 The Barista Was Asked To Make A Chai Latte Because Apparently, My Drink Was Never Made And Then The Barista Turned Around, And Yelled, “ANOTHER CHAI LATTE”? The Audacity Of Her To Sound Frustrated About Doing Her JOB Is MIND BOGGLING!! Meanwhile, I’m Still Waiting For My Side Order Of Hashbrowns As Well. After FINALLY receiving My Order, I Tasted The Chai Latte, And It Tasted Like It Was Made Out Of PURE FRUSTRATION!!! ZERO FLAVOR AND CERTAINLY DIDNT TASTE LIKE IT WAS MADE WITH SOY MILK WHICH BY THE WAY, IS WHAT I ORDERED!!..Oh And The Hashbrowns Well, As You Can See They Are EXTREMELY UNDERCOOKED!! So WATERED DOWN Chai Latte And RAW Hashbrowns, But I’m Still In Good Spirits On The Wonderful Wednesday😃 Whenever I Try A Restaurant For The First Time, I Order Carry-out From The Side Order Menu And Populär Hot Drinks Because If The Food And Drink Is HORRIBLE, Then It’s Not A Significant Amount Of Money Wasted..By The Way, It Seems As Though Some Restaurants Are Intentionally Providing POOR SERVICE To A Particular Type Of Customer In Hopes Of Them Never Returning, And Although I Didn’t Get That Impression From This Place, It Doesn’t Negate The Fact That My Overall Experience At Cupitol Today Was An IEPIC FAIL!!!..My Suggestions To Cupitol Would Be For Your Employees To Be Respectful And Mindful Of Your Customers Time By Observing How Long They’ve Been Waiting To Receive Their Orders. Make Sure Your Customers Are Provided With A Receipt After Each Transaction Because, I Wasn’t Provided With A Receipt. If There’s An Error With A Customer’s Order Please, Don’t Make The Customer Feel As They’re At Fault For Simply Being A Customer. Make Sure ALL Of Your Customers Are Served EXPEDITIOUSLY Because That Certainly Wasn’t What I...
Read moreFood: Ordered the Grilled Ham and Cheese with a overeasy egg on the side as recommended by the manager - so savory in flavor. Adding an egg isn't even necessary, just nice extra protein. The sandwich alone is PERFECT. The roasted tomatoes on it give it the extra juiciness and blast of flavor to complete the ham. My sister ordered the Gravlax Bagel. It had an overwhelming amount of salmon on it- a little too much to stomach if you're not into salmon like that as my sister isn't. She took off more than half of it off her bagel and was able to finish it then. If you love salmon, go for it. She ordered a side of sweet potato fries and those had the perfect crisp and browning on them. We additionally each got a smoothie which I wasn't too crazy for either of them. I believe we ordered the Tropical Chia and the Green Goddess. They were refreshing but a little too earthy for my liking, I'd definitely take a hard pass on a smoothie the next time I visit.
Service: I will note that the smoothies and food did not come out as quickly as you would hope but that's to be expected with the endless line that is always walking through the doors. This place never seems to be empty or at least not on a Saturday morning downtown in November. Accidentally speaking with the manager and receiving that window booth placement was easily the best part of the experience. (Explained below).
Atmosphere: This place is buzzing with moving bodies and chatter. I love how busy it is because it's easy to sink into some work and zone in while the noise around you turns into a nonsense hum. The perfect background noise to sink into studies, work, or just conversation with your sister. The place has ample enough seating with a variety of different seating such as high table tops, booths, etc. When we walked in, I was unsure of the ordering and seating process and asked an employee standing around who happened to be the manager! He kindly pointed out if we were dining in or taking out, he asked if we would like an open booth by the window in the corner, placed a reserved sign there for us and told us we could wait in line for the counter to order. Food would be brought to the table whereas drinks had to be picked up at the counter. That booth was the best seat in the whole place! You could see all the activity on the street as well all the bustling inside Cupitol! Sit there if you can.

Read moreCame from out of town. Was very excited until I reached the register. A man with glasses and wearing a black shirt, compared to the rest of the staff wearing their white uniform. I’m only assuming he’s a manager or owner. He was very rude. It was my first time and I asked very polite questions about the Inca latte, and what was in it. I asked if people out of espresso and he shrugged his shoulders and said sometimes. Not offering any suggestions and just being very cold. And then I would do a caramel macchiato. He explained. That macchiato was just a Regular macchiato, clearly I was asking for suggestions. Giving him room to suggest some thing. He was not welcoming or friendly. I ordered a caramel latte. we were given a table number, but the table one was already seated with people. We politely asked the staff what we should do. They told us to just sit at a different number and that we would get our food to not worry because we thought it might get mixed up Since the number was different. Of course, our food came out and was about to go to the wrong table, which we had assumed what happened, but we’re assured it wouldn’t. But nonetheless We intercepted the food. We were wondering why our drinks were taking so long to only find out that we had to go to counter to pick them up. Which we had no way of knowing because the time we ordered our stuff before we could even pay The man taking our order had answered a phone call and brushed us off. So we had no idea you picked up your coffee at the counter.
It was just a very rude experience honestly. And when I picked up my latte, there was no caramel in it so I had to go back up. There are so many fabulous places to visit in Chicago for food and coffee, this will never be on my list or recommendations to any of the various people I know who we traveling soon. Customer service and it was very lacking. And actually very shocking that it seems like this person is in a higher capacity than the average staff there.
For that type of experience, I would at least expect the food and drink to be phenomenal to have that type of arrogance. It wasn’t. The latte was barely hot, and the hash was good but presented sloppily and the...
