Welp I didn’t even get into the class because I didn’t have grippy socks. But let’s rewind first I have to walk up to a locked door and peer into the window. The reception lady takes her sweet time to stroll up and unlock the door and give me a confused look as if I’m at her house and not supposed to be here. She asks me condescending several times if I’ve ever used a reformer before I said i have from solidcore and a non franchise classical Pilates studio and I said you just adjust the springs and stuff. Like that’s literally what it is. And front desk girl says yeah but I need to know how to use the straps and everything, just the tone in her voice is as if I’m too dumb to figure it out it’s not gymnastics here. Just so condensing and defensive right from the get-go.
So my only choice is to walk away from the class or buy grippy socks for $17. And she told me “literally every Pilates studio requires grippy socks” ok well then how is it that I have been to Pilates that didn’t implement these money grabbing tactics for my safety? 🤡
Bad intro for a new customer, no empathy, greedy rules. I’ve tried lots of fitness studios in the area and none of actively try to create a vibe like...
Read moreI was searching for a Lagree studio during my stay in Chicago and this was the closest to my hotel. Signing up was easy via MindBody. After taking advantage of the special intro class price, I got an email detailing instructions for my first class at this studio. When I arrived with a friend new to Lagree, we were warmly welcomed and given a quick rundown. The class, taught by Olivia, was sequenced very well, and felt like a well-rounded full-body workout. It was definitely an approachable class for a beginner and I loved that she kept reminding the class to move slowly and embrace the shakes. I also really appreciated how many fans were in the room to keep it a comfortable temperature. I do wish the machines all faced their own mirrors, so that it would be easier to keep an eye on form and alignment, but I recognize it would also be uncommon to have students face away from each other in a double row. I hope to hit up a few more classes at this studio...
Read moreCame in with grip socks that were missing some grips, fair enough they’re old socks, I get it, it’s a safety thing, but the instructor Abby didn’t let me know until 15 minutes into class that the socks I had wouldn’t suffice which I thought was kind of unprofessional. Then, I go to buy the socks in the middle of class and there is nobody at the front desk to check them out, so I miss part of class…..super unprofessional. I wear these socks like twice a week at the old town location and nobody ever says anything. It just threw me off for the rest of the workout and I couldn’t focus tbh. She was nice, no hate at all but again she should have let me know before class started and also shouldn’t have referred to them as “non grip socks”…..they were grip socks, albeit worn out and missing a few grips but they weren’t regular street socks, kinda makes me feel like they were just looking to...
