Let me preface this by saying I am an avid plato’s closet lover.. love the deals… the atmosphere… buy and sell from them all the time… but never in my nine lives have I ever had been treated so terribly by staff as I was tonight.
First off, me and my friends walk in 40 minutes before 9 (when they close) to a mostly empty store. As we begin to shop, the pleasant music cuts off and all we can hear are the loud gossiping voices of the talking about how much they hate their job, and how they plan to show up purposefully late the next day. They kept going on about how much they hate having to ring up the customers.. overall creating an uncomfortable and unprofessional environment.
Although this struck me as weird, it’s this next thing that leaves me, a faithful plato’s seller and buyer, content to never set foot in that place again. Me and my friends had made our selections and had decided to try on the clothes. As we make our way to the fitting rooms, we chose the biggest one as the door was wide open and there was no sign forbidding multiple people to enter at once. We had a delightful time trying on the items and had decided on what to buy and what to put back. As we get ready to leave, we hear a male voice politely letting us know it was one to a dressing room. This is understandable, and we begin to clean up our things to leave and pay. However, about thirty seconds after he walks away, we hear a startling, rude voice, shouting DOUBLE IT DOWN AND GET OUT. I genuinely could not believe my ears, this is the most rude thing I have ever experienced and in the moment when it happened I couldn’t help but look at my friend with wide eyes and let out a little giggle because genuinely what the freak ?!?! Like girl, please I don’t like working either but come on now. Mind you, there was still ten minutes until the store closed. Baffled, we decided not to buy anything and went to exit the fitting room. But before we could ANOTHER ONE COMES UP and says excuse me but we close in ten minutes, and by the way this fitting room is meant for mothers only. We walked out making sure not to pass the counter because the employees were so rude.
Overall, the environment is extremely hateful and as much as it saddens me, I would not recommend anyone going to this plato’s closet. I will be an uptown cheapskate girly from now on. I hope that was worth it double down and get out girl, I...
Read morePosting this as a PSA for anyone selling. Go in with a detailed list of all your items and then be sure to have the time available when picking up your cash as well as the unsold items to match your list to the receipt of sale. My wife and I both had the experience of discovering “missing” items when going back after they evaluated our stuff. “Missing” as in weren’t sold (according to the receipt of sale), but also not returned to us. When this happened to my wife, she went back and was given the “missing” items as well as a $10 credit or gift card (appreciated and a good business move). Nonetheless, when I went to sell, I made a detailed list to be sure I could catch this if it happened to me as well. I didn’t have time to stay when I picked up and had to check everything thoroughly at home after the kids were fed and in bed. Sure enough, three of my items must have fallen into the hole to Narnia that exists in the store because the number sold and the number returned to me didn’t add up. I also went back, but this time I only received an apology and a “we’ll call you if we find the things.” No credit or anything for my missing items. Didn’t push it because, at the end of the day, I don’t care about the additional $5-$8 or whatever I would have received if they had purchased the items. It’s just a little weird this has happened to both me and my wife on each of the occasions we sold to them. Maybe this is a coincidence and this isn’t happening to anyone else, but again, just a heads up for anyone considering selling. Two stars for at least being friendly and for making the drop off process quick and easy. If you want to avoid the hassle of a yard sale, but still could use some cash for your items rather than donating them, this could still be a...
Read moreSo I went there to initially get some price quotes and to try and sale some shoes. After my check-in and leave out, I noticed the girl behind me, she had her items in a bag I knew from experience that wasn’t allowed clothes resale-it has to be in a tote or something equivalent. (It’s nice to see they actually leave a few extra in front of the counter now for people who do not know) so I heard the cashier embarrass the girl behind me rudely and her loudly expressing about the clothes needing to be in a tote. (I think that stuff is so uncalled for) Then not only that she went to say in front of God and everybody that the clothes smelled, after seeing her humiliate the young woman, when I came back in there to get my quote. I didn’t have nice things to say unfortunately that experience made my bad day worse. and I really frown upon others who embarrass people in that manor just because they feel they can be jerks, and I shouldn’t have voiced my opinion or taken up for the random girl behind me but I felt the need to so I did.
They had the audacity to call me rude to staff and kicked me out of the store. Dang I am no longer allowed to get a 3% cash back offer on clothes resale ;) that’s terrible or something! Maybe the young lady (ladies) will be mindful the next time she’s openly rude to someone for no reason, or to management for only hearing one side and not knowing. I’m pretty sure the CEO of Plato’s would understand my side of things if he knew what I saw and why I said...
