I get why you close at 8. I understand why I bring my own bags and pay a quarter for a cart. I'm fine with this since it's in the name of lower prices. However, I do not understand why your employees seem to be of the mindset that the customer doesn't matter.
I visited this store for both the first and last time today because of the horrible experience. I saved a bit of money, but I'd much rather go to WalMart or Kroger and shop in a store where the cashier will at least bag my groceries for me and not throw them back into a cart so that I can do it myself (outside in the rain may I add because I had no room to do it in the cart and I wasn't about to set my groceries in the floor). I even made it a point to put the bags in front of everything else I was buying so that they would be used. Instead, they got sat in the cart and weren't touched again. I couldn't even bag them myself because as they were being rung up the cashier was slinging them in the cart as fast as I could set them on the belt. I'm all for efficiency, but come on. If you're that fast you should be able to bag quickly as well.
This was a terrible experience and I will not go back. I suggest anyone who values even the tiniest amount of customer care to do the same. At least I can get one in every 5 or 6 employees to ask me if I'm finding what I'm...
Read moreOkay let's get this out of the way, Aldi's prices are great and anything to keep me out of the Christiansburg Walmart is an A+ for me. However, how do they get these low prices? Lack of bags, efficient store procedures (ie the quarter in the cart system) and a LACK of employees. Usually there are a Max of 3 working. So with these low amounts of employees, you get longer lines and employees that are more stressed and worked harder. I think because of this, we get very poor customer service at this Aldi. The one woman, I won't name her, but she is a middle aged white woman, was on the register and going so fast that she forgot to say hello and when she got up from her chair, dropped my receipt and walked away not realizing that she DIDN'T put it in my hand because I wasn't looking. I get that it's fast paced but it seems the employees here don't care much for customer service and it shows. That situation was the first time I've ever actually asked to see a manager and complain. Now don't get me wrong this Aldi does a great job, but they definitely need to work on their customer service and actually be the neighborhood mini market they want to be. I'll check back in a few months and update to see if...
Read moreI had never been to an Aldi before, so it was a new experience. Last year their prices were nearly always lower than nearby competitors, like Wal Mart and Kroger. However, prices on just about everything have gone up recently so that Wal Mart is now beating them on most items except when Aldi has specific sales on things like produce. Unfortunately, Aldi's produce is poor in general, even though I was told by one employee that is their specialty. Two watermelons I bought there were spoiled that day, raspberries spoiled the next day covered with mold, avocados so green they take two weeks to ripen, then are no good, bananas on display overly ripe, and bagged salads spoil within a day or two before even opened. So I have been disappointed with quality and price. Items are inconsistent too, like salad dressings. Can't find the same one on two visits. I would like to say that most of their staff is very friendly and efficient. The best employee at this store in the manager Justin. Hopefully, he will be able to correct some of the issues with time that...
