I have mixed feelings. I hope this is the same family running this place and had just hired more people. In which case, congrats on the expansion! This has been a favorite for my family and friends for years (I had made a review of Taqueria El Paso several years ago praising it). The carnitas are my favorite and we were excited that they were open again. We got our old favorites which were the carnitas and tortas. The carnitas tasted slightly different but they were overall the same and I enjoyed them. The rest of my family had the tortas and they were rather different and unfortunately not for the better. It didn't seem to have the torta special anymore which would include various meats so now we seemed more limited to choose one. We got the steak and chicken. For some reason they both had a slice of deli ham in it which was odd? The amount of the chosen meat was also less. My dad said that it tasted more like just a normal sub sandwich that you would get at Subway which is profoundly disappointing from the meal it used to be since the tortas were honestly top tier perfection (insult to injury, they were also more expensive which is understandable given the current economy but I was hoping a price raise wouldn't mean a decrease in quality). They also came with a side of fries which really could've been left out as they were pretty bland and not much different from regular Great Value frozen fries. All in all, I'm happy the carnitas have remained the same but we're all really disappointed in the quality of the torta. It looks like the menu has expanded so maybe there will be some new favorites. This has been my favorite Mexican restaurant out of the many I've been to and it would be a terrible shame if the quality gets lost with time. Currently, it's still my favorite but I don't think we can recommend the tortas anymore unfortunately.
All that said, I will be coming back here and I do recommend the store/restaurant. I'm happy for the expansion and the amount of choices they give both in wares and food. I am eager to try more of what they have to offer but I can't help but feel a little disappointed in what used to be a perfect dish; however, that is one dish out of many so I'm hopeful that the rest are just as good if not better than my...

The guy who checked me out was talkative. Reminds be of the Bodegas back in New England. Theres a small restaurant inside serving authentic central american dishes. I didnt have time to look at the menu because I had a day full of errands but I see myself going back to try...
