Now let me start off by saying, this epidemic has got us all frustrated, annoyed, anxious, scared, I get it! And i can only imagine what the essential workers, such as the people who work in the cash registry, must feel as they go in to work daily. I GET IT! My problem is, is the attitude necessary FIRST THING IN THE MORNING? I come in at 8am this morning for some groceries and to change some WIC coupons I needed to exchange. Mind you, I have NOT come in to the store or ANY store since the first week of March because I myself have been feeling anxious about going out to public places.
I decide to come today to come out of the house, taking necessary precautions, and i come early in the morning as I felt it would be much easier for me to deal with since I figured it would be alot less people in the store. I get to the register with one of the new girls, who was freshly hired around the time i last came in. I know because she ringed me out and she was being shadowed by one of the other cashiers. She seem niced, and i was patient since i figured maybe all the other costumers where avoiding her for not being a spanish speaker, and she needed all the practice she could get. Today she was arrogant! Attitude and all! I walk up to her lane and start putting my groceries out as she is finishing up with a costumer.I kept my destince, of course, but she goes off to say to let her finish with the costumer first. I said "sure, its fine". which was not a problem for me. But as soon as i give her my WIC coupons when it was my turn, she takes a deep breath, attitude and everything and loudly tells herself "Oh god! Its early in the morning for this!" i figured she doesnt like doing the coupons?!But seriously? She made this VERYY unpleasent for me...VERY!
WE ALL need to be nice to each other. And just like cashiers expect us to be sensitive towards them, especilly in these times, it should be mutual towards the costumer because none of us know what we are all dealing with...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a grocery store experience that resembles a game of ‘beat the clock,’ Cermak Produce is the place for you! I arrived a full five minutes before closing (how daring of me), only to find the entrance already locked. No problem, I thought, I’ll just use the exit to quickly grab my two bags of sunflower seeds—simple, right? Wrong. Apparently, those last five minutes are sacred. The staff member (who I can only assume is the gatekeeper of all things sunflower seeds) made it clear that my patronage was not welcome. When I politely asked if he could just grab the two bags for me, given that I had driven 30 minutes just to buy them, his response was a firm ‘no.’
Oh, and don’t bother asking for the manager’s name; that information is apparently a closely guarded secret at Cermak. It seems protecting management anonymity is a higher priority than customer service. Maybe they’re expecting a career in espionage, who knows? The real kicker is that while their customer service levels are scraping the bottom of the barrel, their prices are somehow competing with Target and Walmart. What a bargain for bad service and inconsistent produce freshness!
Oh, and if you’re visiting late, be prepared to enjoy the ambiance of police cars, loitering employees, and ‘shoppers’ hanging around outside—it really adds a touch of urban excitement. In short, Cermak Produce is the epitome of ‘customer-last’ service. If you want the authentic street vendor experience without the charm (or the prices), then this is the...
Read moreI always come to shop in this place with my personal bags and everything with no problem. Until now,a man of 5’4 ,Latino and looked about 55 with grey hair came to my space telling and stopping me from shopping telling me that you must hand bags over to the front and they’ll give you a number . Now I’ve been shopping here for months and had no problems getting what I need or seen a sign or been told to begin with saying I should hand over my bags. I told him are you telling just me or everyone that comes here and he says “oh am just letting you know that you don’t get uncomfortable when they let you know? No one has made me uncomfortable till now. I don’t know if he was on a power trip but he was only standing outside talking till he ran after me to make me uncomfortable thinking am capable of stealing. When am walking around right now as we speak he’s hovering around me. Now I asked for his name and as far as he says his name is Austin. It always be your own people targeting you. I haven’t seen a Cermak worker tell their costumers to hand over their personal bags . This is the only sign they had about their store but notice how that’s the only sign they have stating that bags must be checked but written in vague letters . Whose going to stop and look at the door sign (only one they have) for what they can and can’t . The only reason am writing this review is because he didn’t seem to run after everyone except me this time. I’ve been here many times...
